http://news.yahoo.com/business-gop-establishment-tea-party-over-163718915--politics.html A slice of corporate America thinks tea partyers have overstayed their welcome in Washington and should be shown the door in next year's congressional elections. I hope they succeed. The Tea Party has been nothing but a soap box for the extreme right and have done far more harm than good. The only one thing that had any value was their concern about spending, but that whole cause was trumped by the extremists that have overplayed their hand. Good riddens, I say.
Wow. Two establishment Republicans in Michigan. Yep...that settles it. Meanwhile, the further the growing nightmare of Obamacare spreads, to more powerful the tea pary becomes. Yeah...if those two guys say so...it's OVER!!
I couldn't give two (*)(*)(*)(*)s about the Tea Party, but the fact that you and others vehemently want them gone while being perfectly fine with uber left wing politicians is PATHETIC.
Well the uber left doesn't shut down the govt because of personal ideology, to the shagrin of the nation. I consider that a big difference.
The nation was not shagrined, nor were they chagrined. The nation didn't notice. The stock market actually went up when the government was shut down (except for people closing down memorials that are normally left open). The shutdown did not effect 99.99999999% of all Americans and if it weren't for the apoplexy of the left wing press, no one would have noticed at all. These same people who really didn't care if the government shut down or not are probably going to notice their health insurance premiums are skyrocketing because of a certain parties personal ideology. Just saying....
Pathetic, laughable, hypocritical. The Democratic party has been overrun by nihilistic neo-socialist extremists who want to fundamentally transform the United States of America, and all Lefties can bleat about are the TEA Party. I wonder when they'll pry the beam out of their own eyes...
My bad with the spelling. Business did not like the shutdown, hence the article, and the majority of the nation didn't want a shutdown.
My company's stock actually rose the instant the "shutdown" took effect, and fell the instant the "shutdown" was over..... - - - Updated - - - An overwhleming majority of the nation didn't want Obamacare, your point?
ROFL!!!! The Uber left has shut down government more than any other political party since the Carter administration, which, mind you, was controlled by a Democratic President and a Democratically held house and senate. You guys shut yourselves down, LOL. "Those who cannot remember the past, are condemned to repeat it"
Libs have been 'predicting' the death of the Tea Party since it's inception. And the Tea Party is still 'here'. So sorry to burst your bubble.
Liberals spend 90% of their time "campaigning" against the Tea Party and the other 10% of the time trying to convince Americans that the Tea Party is irrelevant and dying off. It's absolute fear.
"Blah blah blah Obamacare sucks blah blah blah we can't think of anything else to say." The Tea Party's only hope is the failure of Obamacare. Even then, what are their candidates going to run on? The "See I told you so!" platform? That didn't work very well against G.W. Bush's reelection. This fear of Obamacare is reaching mythical proportions. You know the Apollo program cost some $25B and actually killed people, and for what? So we could plant a flag on the moon. Were we good at launching people into space when it started? No. Was it worth killing people to get there? Probably not. Did we figure out how to get it done eventually? Yes. Yes we did. Did good stuff come out of the program? Yes, even though the ultimate goal was rather dubious. Now here we are today looking to do nothing more than create a common pool of insurance clients so that when people get sick, doctors can treat them with the full confidence that they will actually get paid. Were we good at the launch? Apparently not. Is it worth it to give people a better life? It is if you value life in the first place. Will we eventually figure this out and do it well? Yes. Yes we will.
How do people still not understand that Congress shut the government down? What bill was ever presented to the President that would have averted a shutdown?
Of course. Whose most threatened byt the Tea Party right now? Rhinos are looking feverishly over their shoulder band arms with their progressive left friends in hopes to stave the surge.
Good for you. It's not an analogy. It's an acknowledgment that we can do and have done difficult things, even when we're bad at them at first. And this difficult thing is actually worthwhile as opposed to many other ego-driven endeavors we've undertaken.
I do not want the Tea Party to go anywhere I think they are great for Democrats!! The more they foam at the mouth about things that do not matter and focus on discriminaion and take funding from the Koch brothers then I say run baby run
Ah yes, the Appollo program, I'm fairly certain that is the last project that the USG came in on time and on budget with AND it was a success. The same program today would have cost $20T and we'd be waiting 10 years for a test launch.
Now wait just a minute there sir. There was a deep and lasting effect, one that shall remain a scar, indeed a blight upon the fabric of America for years to come. Imagine if you will the plight of the individual government employee, especially those in DC, where they had to go 16 days without a pay check. These people, who have dedicated their lives to committee meetings, policy discussion forums, sensitivity training, and still manage to provide for a family while maintaining the kind of lifestyle they think they deserve, were treated in an absolutely draconian fashion. Even as we speak, the back pay for which they spent 16 days worrying, unable to enjoy the time off in the fall because of it, is only now beginning to flow. How will they ever survive Black Friday? The Tea Party did that.
