Criminals are going to take the chance regardless. I had a gym bag stolen from my truck by a thief who busted out a tinted window to do so. He got away with the bag, dirty clothes and my toiletries. If they are desperate enough, they'll chance steal anything.

They won't need them. They have to fly low enough to deposit your goods at your doorstep.

How fast is it flying when it is stopped and unloading your package?

I think these drones will initially target low-crime neighborhoods in more densely populated metro areas and suburbs however, I see great hurdles with the FCC and of course, the weather. I would assume high wind speeds would also be a grounding factor along with heavily wooded and/or rural areas. Must be that Amazon has calculated increased revenue with these drones regardless.

    Funny stuff I heard...

"I got my package in 30 minutes but it killed my cat"......."Amazon just delivered a HELICOPTER dad!" LOL!

We aren't a plutocracy. We are more an oligarchy posing as a republican democracy.

Yes. It has to come down to deliver. Unless you are suggesting it will only make deliveries when we are at home?

Automobiles displaced horse-drawn carriages once upon a time. All the people who helped to manufacture and sell horse-drawn carriages, consequently, lost their jobs in that obsolete industry. Was it hard on the people who relied on that industry at the time? I'm sure it was for some. But the transition from horses to automobiles was a quantum leap in technology that served to benefit the whole of mankind, the unemployed carriage-makers included. This is why I think it's important for educational institutions, be they public or private, to emphasize adaptive learning. Change is a constant, so people should not be conditioned to expect static work environments.

The drones are not an easy target. I don't think it would be very wise to go around shooting at the sky having absolutely no idea what was even in the package.

Don't worry about the details. Smart people called "engineers" and "scientists" have already solved all those problems years ago. Just sit back and enjoy the coming technological advancements.

Assuming you could actually hit it, or that it would be worth the risk of getting caught.

    I don't live in a crime-ridden hellhole, so it's not a problem.

You don't have to live in a crime-ridden hellhole. If I were a criminal intent on stealing an Amazon package being drone delivered, I'm stalking your neighborhood because the items are likely worth more.

I've seen a few people on here say it and I've heard a few friends say it or something like "The first time it hurts/kills someone and it's over". Planes have crashed and killed people but they still fly. Cars crash and people are killed in those accidents but cars are still around. I don't think that will stop it. I think once it's a solidified, the technology by amazon, it will be pretty cool.

Probably about as long as it took their delivery people to arm themselves and shoot the competition's delivery people?

Ye of little faith, GPS is one of the most accurate devices we have at our disposal. If it were not accurate enough to fly with, then why do your military use it to guide their own drones. These delivery drones are a brilliant idea, and if all you really have to do is take the missiles away from a predator drone and replace it with anything you might buy off the internet then its really not that difficult in conception. And when was the last time a military drone was lost to pilot error, none you would have heard of if I'm correct.

Sounds cool, but I don’t see it working on any kind of large scale. Criminals will just follow the drone to its landing point and steal the package. Upon landing or before takeoff young children may reach out for it getting a finger cut off in the process. Neighborhoods may not want dozens of these things flying over their heads on a daily basis which will lead to some areas banning them, causing Amazon to keep track of where they can and can’t deliver.

It is possible, but I doubt it.

But our society is dependent of planes and automobiles. It isn't dependent on book delivering drones. And our society is a LOT more safety conscious than it was back in the days of the Wright brothers or Henry Ford.

When planes started society wasn't dependent on them. Same thing for cars. And Amazon delivers way more than books. Give it time. One day there will be a generation that won't be able to imagine a society without them. Just like you can't imagine a society without planes and cars.

A.) You know this person went to public schools?
B.) You blame everything on public schools or do you also put the blame on parents and our current societal culture?
C.) It's the internet and people can't always interpret intent/tone. On this forum where people are rude in almost every post how could you blame the person?

Sorry about the crime, but breaking a car/truck window and firing a .22 into the air are two different criminal classifications. Someone firing a weapon into the air outside, is going to be identified.

Because, he does it constantly. No matter my answer, he would have responded the same way. He went out of his way to bait me, and its what he does all the time. are you his keeper or something? can he not speak for himself?

They won't need to fire a gun. That drone has to unload, which means it has to slow down and land. Kick the drone if you want. Hit it with a baseball bat. Any way you want to incapacitate it, you can. Then you just walk away with the package.
