And the person you answered with the above, OUGHT to know the greater truth; but it seems that they wish to NOT know or actually do not know.

But honestly... THAT is another topic; not the one for which I created this thread.

LOL.....how many threads are going to be created regarding gun laws? Gun owners should just be content with their gun owning choices and stop worrying about what others think....

    Brilliant response; point well made!!

That is very likely untrue. If you want anyone to embrace that as being realistic... please prove it, and do it well.

We aren't mind readers, so it is something that can only be proven anecdotally. Most gay relationships are open relationships, if you can even call them relationships at all. This is very well known. I would argue that this is not compatible with family values. But can anyone prove what each gay person is thinking in their mind? No, we can only point at their behaviors.

Also true: every great nation in the world chose, at some point, to start "closeting" their homosexuals. Despite coming from very different backgrounds and cultures, it was done by the entire west, it was done by the major east Asian cultures like Japan and China and Korea, most of the lesser east Asian cultures such as Vietnam, the Muslims and the Jews and the Russians and the Indians all "closeted" them as well. To call this kind of global consensus an accident of history strikes me as an act of faith.

The greater reality is that not all human beings must conform to what you say is best, in order to do a lot of good in this world.

So please, don't express yourself as though you have THE formula for all gays or anyone else. I see what you're saying as a put-down; and I'm sure I disagree with much of what you are communicating above.

It is definitely a put-down. Human beings should try and do a lot of good in this world. I think it's perfectly reasonable to have standards for other people. The west only has those who disagree with this because we have had so much wealth for so long now that huge segments of the population are losing touch with reality.

Sorry, not buying that softened 'homophobia' you've packaged-up so nicely.

Try selling it elsewhere (or not at all).

And many gay people have done a lot of good in the world. Why do you want to hurt us?

Gays have decided that traditional standards hurt them. Most conservatives were content to just ignore them, but then gays started coming after us. We get forced to photograph them kissing and cater their events and so-on. I am sure that the homosexuals forcing religious people into these acts are doing it out of pure sadism; otherwise, why would you give your money to someone who finds you repugnant?

Even then, gays remain focused on the hurt that they are suffering. Maybe some things just belong in the closet.

I don't think a time will come when everyone gives up their standards that they have for other people, even if those standards can cause hurt in someone else. That's just how life is.

What are you even talking about? Who is coming after you? What church is being forced to marry gay people?

Is someone forcing you to marry the same sex? Is someone invalidating your marriage?

I'm sorry, what is the problem here?

I think that I've already made that clear, more than once. Now I could just as easily ask you the same question: how are you hurt if it is written down in the books as a "civil union" and not as a "marriage?"

The only real answer to this question is the idea that over time, people will be influenced by what it is called in the law. But if we are going to acknowledge this possibility, then why can't we ask whether certain elements of gay culture, such as the prevalence of open relationships, could also influence people over time? And if we are going there, it becomes cognizable to expect public adherence to family values.

You have made nothing clear. BTW- open relationships are as old as civilization. If you want me to go there with that, hold onto your hat, it's all over the Bible. I was raised in a fundamentalist family. I know my Bible.

That has nothing to do with two people who love each other committing themselves to the rest of their lives and having a family.

Going to bed now. I have that thing that liberals supposedly don't have- a job that I work hard at.

I'm not saying that open relationships are a new thing. I am saying that social acceptance of them is a new and dangerous thing and that gay marriage/the gay agenda may encourage this, since most gay relationships are open relationships.

When will ignorant people leave homosexuals alone to live their lives in peace?

How do you know this? According to a study of gay men in San Francisco (one of the most liberal cities in the country) it was about half and half.
    http://www.sfgate.com/lgbt/article/Many-gay-couples-negotiate-open-relationships-3241624.php

I imagine in other areas of the country there would be even fewer open relationships. Also, I am not familiar with any data saying that gay women significantly engage in open relationships.

Can you please show me your sources?

Also, you need a lot more than doomsday rhetoric to prove that such relationships are harmful, and even more to say simply allowing them or accepting them is dangerous.

so shut up and live it.... I haven't heard of any door kick-ins by state police out trying to enforce the sodomy laws still on the books in many places... The problem is, you want prividges and benefits that are equal.

I have never advocated denial of rights....

I don't have to agree to benefits like tax breaks and reduced spouse rate insurances

On the spouse rates for insurance, Many companies have started offering those rates to same sex couples in civil unions and domestic partnerships. So, legal marriage really would have no effect on those rates.

    http://bigstory.ap.org/article/gay-partner-benefits-growing-fortune-500-firms

My fiancees company offers coverage at spousal rates with a notarized affidavit saying we are in a relationship, since our state doesn't even have domestic partnerships for same sex couples.

You do realize that virtually every 'gay' person was raised by heterosexuals in a heterosexual family unit.

The rest of your post is just wierd bigotry towards well pretty much everyone- gays, liberals, immigrants- your final sentence pretty much nails your thoughts

"homosexuals need to be socially repressed and kept in the closet for the sake of those too foolish to condemn the "values" of the gay majority."

'the normal population'- this is what the Conservatives fear and feel must be controlled.

Getting married and destroying a fetus are two different things, one is about consenting adults, the other is about an adult making a life and death decision about an unborn child, two very different things.

While I find your views absolutely reprehensible I commend you for being one of the FIRST absolutely and totally HONEST individuals on here to express what your side REALLY wants for gays and lesbians.

This is what opponents of LGBT civil rights truly want. Thank you for bringing light to it. Now if only your fellows would be honest about what they want instead of using completely dishonest tactics to try and deny people their civil rights.

That's true. At least he was honest about how he feels, as disgusting as that honestly might be.
