When Kevin Mclaughlin entered the Dollar General in Orrville, Alabama, he probably didn’t expect it would be the last thing he would ever do. Brandishing a pistol, the man began herding people into the breakroom. But concealed permit holder Marlo Ellis waited until the right moment to gun down the potential murderer, which led many to call him a ‘Good Samaritan’ and a true hero.

The man is not set to be charged with any crime for defending himself and others against the masked gunman.

Surely, this isn’t the sort of thing liberals have in mind when they seek to ban firearms. But people who feel a responsibility to protect themselves and others are well aware that there are bad people out there, both inside and outside of government, and know that firearms not only end lives, but can also save them.

    Guns are bad mmkay?

Guns are like parachutes, if you need one and dont have one, you'll likely never need one again.

ORRVILLE — One person is dead after a customer at the Dollar General in Orrville began shouting and waving his gun in the air.

Dallas County Sheriff Harris Huffman said the incident appeared to be a case of self-defense and no one has been arrested in connection with the shooting Thursday afternoon.

The incident occurred when Dallas County resident Kevin Mclaughlin entered Dollar General reportedly waving a pistol in the air, Huffman said. Mclaughlin then ushered a group of people inside the store into a break room.

“It appears that once the cashier got inside the break room, a customer that was walking into the break room shot the individual, the white male, with the pistol,” Huffman said. “There was only one shot fired and that shot struck the individual with the pistol causing the disturbance.”

District Attorney Michael Jackson confirmed the customer who reportedly shot Mclaughlin was Orrville resident Marlo Ellis.

Huffman said Ellis used his own weapon in the incident.

Orrville resident Deforest James said he was in the Dollar General moments before the shooting occurred. James exited the building shortly after Mclaughlin waved the pistol and told customers not to move.

“He said he was looking for three bad mother—-ers and then I ran out and I busted out through the back door,” James said.

Orrville Mayor Louivenia Lumpkin received a call about the incident from her son while at work.

“He said there has been an accident at Dollar General and I thought it might have been a traffic accident,” Lumpkin said. “I was working about two miles away. When I got here I found out that someone had been killed.”

Dallas County resident Riley Powell said he was mere minutes away from being inside the store at the time of the robbery.

“I pulled up to get some foot powder and the sheriff was already here,” Powell said. “I would have been inside the store if I hadn’t decided to take out the trash before coming over.”

Some Liberals would've preferred the victim was shot, and the perp robbed everyone and got away. That would be justice for them. The robber is never the bad guy. The people defending themselves are the always the trouble makers. Either that or the CCP shot an innocent bystander and killed him instead of the perp. Liberals would be doing somersaults and back flips in glee at the fabulous news that they could use in fitire court cases citing the dangers of people who weild guns=)

Not according to research commissioned by the CDC.

    http://books.nap.edu/openbook.php?record_id=18319

“Almost all national survey estimates indicate that defensive gun uses by victims are at least as common as offensive uses by criminals, with estimates of annual uses ranging from about 500,000 to more than 3 million per year...”

Do you truly believe this or are you just ignorant to the statistics on how many times a gun owner stops a criminal?

Indeed. And for every one of those isolated incidents, we get many more incidents of children regularly killed by careless use or possession of guns, and that's not even counting the deliberate uses of guns by angry people caught up in the heat of a domestic of neighborhood argument who turn to guns to settle things.

That's right. In Libland, only those who are victims of gun crimes count. Pathetic. :gun:

sadly this is not this sort of thing people think about when they require a license to conceal, had this man been denied such a license, he would of been no use to anyone at this store

republicans feel they can deny some people from owning guns, some people from concealing them... that is just plain wrong and unconstitutional.. says this liberal

everyone should be allowed to own a gun, everyone should be allowed to conceal a gun, there are though places that should be gun free zones, like planes, court houses, ext...

anyone under the care of a parent, the government, hospital is under their control, it's up to the hospital at that point, same as with a child it's up to the parent, or with a prisoner it's a up to the government

if an insane person lives on their own, supports themselves, they yes, they should have the same rights you and I have...

would you think of denying them their free speech rights too... same thing applies

remember, owning a gun is a right, not a privilege that can be taken away like driving a car

that said, if you commit a crime with a gun, I expect the punishment to be very very harsh

Lol...What's the matter? Couldn't refute the facts so you're trying to distract?
The number of incidents of an armed bystander thwarting a crime because they had a gun handy are just a tiny fraction of the number of incidents involving someone being accidentally killed by a gun that wasn't properly secured or handled, or the number of people who resort to guns in silly everyday arguments and wind up killing a relative or neighbor.
The numbers are not even close. Look it up.

Of course what the pro gun people will fail to acknowledge is that the bad guy was armed with a gun. The issue again is how to keep guns out of the hands of the bad guys. Disarming responsible gun owners has never been the issue no matter what the paranoid believe.

so you believe owning a gun should be a privilege like the privilege to drive.. got it

insane people that are a threat to themselves or others are committed, if that happens, they are no longer under their own control, they are under anothers.. see the difference

what is insane to you.. any mental issue, depression, anxiety, what do you consider enough to tell someone they can not protect their homes and family

I see the 'God Warrior' as insane (I see many religious fanatics as insane), should she and others lose their rights as an American? you and I may not want her to own a gun, but as long as it's a right vs a privilege, she should be allowed too

if a right doesn't apply to the least among us... it's no longer a right... it's a privilege

What facts you have provided none. A poster already linked to the CDC that shows you are wrong.

exactly, guns laws stop law abiding Americans from owning a gun, not the criminals

    - - - Updated - - -

good example, we do not have a right to drive, that is a privilege the blind do not enjoy - that is exactly what you want for guns - are you seeing the difference yet, is it sinking in
