You know I'm a card carrying member of the Tea Party and the vast right wing conspiracy, and an evangelical. So, you're analysis is a little off. I think most of us want an effective political strategy and policies that actually work.

Immigration laws ARE the "path to citizenship". Got a poll saying Americans want to do away with them?

 

Our laws state that you must have proper documentation to enter/stay/work/become a citizen in this, and most, countries.

To not possess documentation while in a country that requires it, one is clearly breaking the law.

CIS (who, BTW, are the most vehement anti-immigrant group out there....so their "neutral language" poll is immediately suspect...unlike EVERY OTHER POLL)......can't produce a poll that shows a majority of Americans support a mass deportation program.

Funny. I happen to be one of those in this thread that you ignored. You know, the ones that recognize that there is already a path to citizenship. And that path is not under a fence in the middle of the night for undocumented criminals.

Furthermore, what "I" consider means little. It's the law.

Lastly, I don't want them all deported. That is far too difficult/expensive. The solution is simple. Remove the carrot and the criminal rabbit will stop running.

I hope that Obama actually does something this term. There has not been much fundamental change. Granting citizenship to those who have been living and working in the US seems like a fair compromise. It's what Americans want, and it's a good solution to decades-old immigration debate.
