Actually they were very enlightened when our ancestors were still painting themselves blue.. They had street lights, garbage pick up and public water works as well as some of the most beautiful cities and architecture while Europe was still in the Dark Ages.
Ummm ... the Jews were largely illiterate, desert dwelling, nomadic tribes (possibly of Arabic origin - they were certainly not originally European). There is no evidence that the Islamic advances in mathematics, the sciences, literature, and biology. came from Jewish tribes of no particular ability (other than the invention of a self-congratulatory mythology).
The Arabs did invent the Kamel.. a device for navigation ... since they had extensive trade With East Africa and the Indus Valley.
You know what I think about when I hear the word war? The fact that for many years we were supporting Saddam Hussein in Iraq, even supplying him with weapons during the war with Iran. Then when Saddam made a move trying to occupy more middle east territory...because of our dependency on them for oil we went to war against Saddam. Then....In 2003 George W. Bush invaded Iraq after telling a documented 935 lies to gain enough support to do it. We lost 4500 young Americans during that conflict and got another 35,000 seriously wounded not to mention the 150,000 Iraqis they called collateral. Over 2,000,000 Iraqis fled to Jordan and Syria leaving their life long possessions behind. George W. Bush said he prayed for weeks and God told him to invade. I wonder if the fact that Saddam tried to assassinate his father, George Herbert Walker Bush in 1993 had any bearing on god's instruction? Oh...your comment about Atheism....I lived as a Baptist till I was over 60 years old so I paid my dues. Actually I call myself agnostic. I don't know and you don't either. One thing I believe. If there is anything after death we'll all get it.....not just some group who thinks they're the chosen ones and a first cousin to the savior and creator of the universe. Religion has never done much harm if you can over look most wars, the Crusades, the Inquisitions, 9/11, blowing up girl's schools, the suppression of women and homosexuals, arranged marriages to minors, ethnic cleansing, the systematic raping of children, human sacrifice, burning witches, suicide bombings, condoning slavery etc.
Dubya told the President of France he was fighting Gog and Magog.. leaving the pres stunned and speechless.. The French had to scramble around and look up Gog and Magog.
Very well.....here's a recent one. When people kill in Gods name.....God kills. When people feed starving children in Gods name...God saves. You cannot pick one and not the other.
Not really, (the pagan gods part) those pagans did some pretty brutal things RE: ritual killing. Many organized religions incorporated some form of paganism into their belief systems. It would seem that your argument is with 'Western religion' however. Eastern religion tends to be more cerebral/spiritual. I find it curious that the poster equates "Bush's lies" to religion. Does he see Bush as some 'religious crusader'? I suppose that the Marines were some modern day version of the Knights Templar.
Bush's lies are documented. He and Jimmy Carter are the most "religious presidents" this country has ever had. I wouldn't give either one of them enough warm pisss to take a pill.
Bush told the French he needed their help because he was fighting Gog and Magog... That's pretty "religious".
Sure Bush was religious. I'm no Bush backer, but equating the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan to a Holy Crusade is a stretch. A similar stretch as equating Obama to being a Muslim sleeper agent. I'd buy into Bush's motivation being 'to finish what Daddy started' before 'God made me do it'.
Your arguing something you adamantly denies existing is causing death and good fortune? The mind contortions required to arrive at that is astounding.
Seemingly...a simple mind is quite easily astounded. Your comment makes no sense, either because you have limited language skills or you have no other means of arguing against my point. Are Muslims currently killing Christians for Allah? Did Christians kill many Muslims for God? Are Muslims killing other Muslims because they disagree on what Allah meant? Do Christians deny the Christianity of other Christians because they disagree on what God meant? People are Killing other people in the name of one God or another throughout the world, as they have been since we made this being up. Try to deny this extremely simple fact. I also deny the imagined voices that tell a nut job to murder....but The voices still told him to do it.
And the 'French' joined us in Iraq and Afghanistan. So, they either believed Bush's Gog/Magog shtick and elected to humor him, or they (with their superior intelligence) agreed on some other level
They just thought Bush was nuts.. Gog and Magog indeed.. The Scythians invaded from Lydia.... or Khazaria before Alexander the great... They are sometimes associated with the Medes and Pathians. - - - Updated - - - When? Have you never seen Cordoba or Granada?
Of course I've been to those places. It's funny that there are no comparable cities where the Moors came from. After the Christians finally kicked the muslims and Jews out of Spain they went on a murdering campaign in the Western Hemisphere and destroyed the Aztec and Inca cities. In Mexico they forced the Aztecs to demolish their buildings stone by stone.
