First of all, the title of their article is this...

Fact. More Republicans voted for the Civil Rights Act than did Democrats.

And their accompanying photo is this...

Fact. George Wallace (standing in doorway) was a Democrat.

Why does the left constantly lie and distribute propaganda?

    Politico's propaganda hit piece

Fun fact: Nixon did not support desegregating schools.

I don't have a subscription to the WSJ. But I get what you're saying. Another fun fact is that the article had to deal with modern GOP politics as well, which the Dems certainly don't have as much, if no racist tendencies.

Thank you. Wasn't too bad of an article, a little bit more touching up on the history part but still. That being said, no is arguing the Democrats have a racist past. That also being said no one is arguing that the GOP also had a racist past as well. What the article looks at is how the GOP became the party of racists, and it does it in such a way that makes logical sense.

The GOP hasn't become the "party of racists."

    That's just more left-wing crap.

The further we go back in time, the more the GOP made sense. How did they come to that sorry nest of idiots, racists and clowns is beyond my comprehension - althought Fox wouldn't be that far.

The states that voted for George Wallace in 1968....the anti-integration states?

ALL voted for Richard Nixon in 1972.

Why??? If Republicans are so "good" on civil rights???

    - - - Updated - - -

Explain why most blacks don't vote Republican.....WITHOUT making an insulting remark about blacks.

    Go! :)

WE DON'T HAVE TO! That was in NO WAY the gist of the article. I posted the article yesterday with the HIGHLIGHTED #'s of how many DEMs and how many REPS. The article was DEAD ON. The CIVIL RIGHTS movement made SOUTHERN DEMOCRATS switch! BARRY GOLDWATER started the Southern Strategy and it was used by Nixon and Reagan and EVEN GEORGE HERBERT WALKER BUSH. I was NOT A HIT PIECE other than to state the facts. CIVIL RIGHTS created the 'modern' Republican Party. I lived among the SOUTHERN DEMOCRATS then and I watched what happened.

Anyone WANNA SCHOOL the above poster on GEORGE WALLACES 'PARTY' affiliation after the picture from above??

Do posters on this board ever google anything before you they go on their VAPID tirades??

ADDENDUM: I didn't know GHW BUSH also used the 'southern strategy'! They all must be so proud...

From Wikipeia... In Wallace's 1998 obituary, The Huntsville Times political editor John Anderson summarized the impact from the 1968 campaign: "His startling appeal to millions of alienated white voters was not lost on Richard Nixon and other GOP strategists. First Nixon, then Ronald Reagan, and finally George Herbert Walker Bush successfully adopted toned-down versions of Wallace's anti-busing, anti-federal government platform to pry low- and middle-income whites from the Democratic New Deal coalition."[1

I think that’s a question black people need to answer. What is it about the democrat party that attracts them? Why did they vote for Obama by a margin of 98%? Did they vote for him in such marge percentages AND UMBERS because he’s a democrat or because he’s black AND a democrat? Explain why every black republican is cast as an ‘Uncle Tom’, a sellout, or ‘not black enough’ by the black community?

And for the record… blacks do vote republican. This is growing in number as more blacks are beginning to realize how they have been used by liberal democrats and keep them hooked on social programs; the worst form of racism in this country.

Headline:"Politico's article lies about race and the GOP "

    Rewrite:"PoliBico lies"

    Their agenda is transparent.

    That is a L I E.

The Democratic Party keeps all the (*)(*)(*)(*) stirred up practicing racism and promoting racism. They even fund-raise off it. Obama and Holder are patently racist.

You mean like support for the War on Drugs?

    - - - Updated - - -

By Nixon, it wasn't really the Democrats.

Haven't seen a Democrat try to legislate away the 'War on Drugs' yet.

When Nixon became President, Blacks were already voting 95% Democrat.

I admit. I was naive. I didn't know about the 'southern strategy' until the mid-to-late 80's. Not exactly like they were going to BRAG ABOUT IT! It was in conjunction with finding out about the POS LEE ATWATER! He sucked at the political teets of Nixonites. I'm sure he learned well.

Attwater died of a HORRIFIC form of brain cancer at the age of only about 42 and only about 2 years after he got Bush 1 elected. I'd like to say it was KARMA but Rove is still breathing and they 'strategized' together.

(When Attwater was dying, he called up MICHAEL DUKAKIS to personally apologize for the WILLIE HORTON ads! Yep, he learned how to use racism well!)

Because except for Massachusetts the 72 election was a sweep.

All those states voted for Carter in 76.

I think it is sad that Republicans have to go back 60 years to blame racism on Dems.
