Gay foster dad, who left baby to die in hot car as he smoked weed, begs for freedom

That's what I'm wondering also - only 32 months for roasting a baby to death?! I bet the baby wiped her tears away also while she was dying b/c 'dad' was to busy getting high and watching a 2 hr show to pay any attention to her... the SOB should be getting at least 10 yrs. He knew what the temp was and every yr people are warned about not leaving their kids/animals in cars in hot weather, but he willingly did it anyway and he only got 32 months..... a slap on the wrist.

His partner knew where the baby was and went along w/it. Is he going to charged too?

"Genuine sorrow" - bull(*)(*)(*)(*)......It was intentional. How could it not be? He willingly put the baby in that car in that sweltering weather and left her alone for over 2 hrs. Anyone who has an IQ higher than a potted plant KNOWS that will kill anyone. If he's that stupid, he had no business being a foster parent.

This was clearly self-centeredness. He wanted to be left alone to smoke pot and watch a show and this was his way of getting what he wanted and his partner went along w/it......

The 2 of them should be put in a sweltering hot car w/no way out.......

 

This wasn't a 'mistake' - this was intentional to guarantee those 2 could smoke pot and watch tv w/as few interruptions as possible.

And your 'what if' both working hard and both fell asleep w/a baby there? BOTH? You mean not one of them would have had enuf presence of mind to realize a baby was up, awake and needed an adult to keep them safe despite how 'tired and fatigued' they were?

And I can tell you honestly, raising 3 kids, I never fell asleep while doing chores in the middle of the day w/my baby/toddler up and awake. And I'm not the only parent who managed to stay awake thru out the day w/kids......

The OP seems to be concerned with the court's decision of 32 months of incarceration.

Sounds like the state failed this young child terribly- not vetting the foster parent(s) and handing down a less than 3 years sentence for negligent homicide.

Unfortunately, a parents love for their kid(s) doesn't outweigh an addiction. I knew a woman who was an alcoholic while her 2 boys were growing up (didn't know her at that time) - she finally got off the booze after they were grown. She couldn't understand why her boys wouldn't have anything to do w/her..... 'after all, I'm not drinking anymore'. Doesn't matter. An alcoholic's booze comes b/f anything and anyone else, including the kids. It's the same w/other addictions.

 

The key phrase here may be "foster daughter".
The states pay foster parents a stipend for every kid they take in. Maybe these partners clear enough profit to pay for their weed.
Solution, legalize pot so these two can get it cheap and quit taking in kids.

When it comes to my children, I have not "unexpectedly fallen asleep" leaving them in an unknown situation. Never have, not even close.

If the "protocol" is to make sure your kid is not roasting in the car, yes we always have followed protocol.

Your standards and expectations are too low.

 

It's bull(*)(*)(*)(*) that people forget their children are in the car. As a father of two small children I know I will never "forget" I have my child in the car. You would have to be a (*)(*)(*)(*)ing moron to do that and if a person is that stupid why are they driving a car in the first place. Either way it's time these worthless pieces of (*)(*)(*)(*) start doing major jail time. At the very least this guy deserves life in prison. Personally I would lock his ass in a hot car and let him go out like he did that innocent child.

Geeesus! Pretty damn sad that 'parents' nowadays puts a video game/tv show... whatever Game of Thrones is..... ahead of the children's welfare and safety. Foster parents really needs to be screened more than ever.

I know mistakes happen and we're only human but come on. There are things that you can let slide, the welfare of your children isn't one of them.

32 months seems pretty damn short for the death of a toddler, even if it was an accident.

Same here - never happened. I was disgusted to read 'what if you were so fatigued, you fell asleep in the middle of the say..."as a parent, you just don't let yourself fall asleep in the middle of the day w/1-2-3 small gremlins running around.....

Bingo! My sentiments exactly! And there was no 'forgetting' the 10 month old child was in the hot car. He deliberately put her there so he could entertain himself for a couple of hours.........
