If they continue on in the same way, there WILL be a global collapse. That is the point many of us try to make. All of our fates are intertwined.

Congress has two houses. One is called the House of Representatives, and that has been in GOP control since 2011, not 2010. The other house of Congress is called the Senate. That has been in control of the Democratic Party from 2007 to 2015. There is also an executive branch, run by the President. The President can veto any bills presented by Congress. The Democratic Party has been in control of the executive branch since 2009.

In what universe is our government honest?

You progressives amaze me. On one hand you subscribe to wikilinks and other leaked info and on the other you defend our government and cite useless information that comes from the CBO.

When has the CBO ever been accurate?

When was the last time our government was audited?

The congressional budget office cant determine (*)(*)(*)(*) because they have absolutely no idea what they have and they can't project (*)(*)(*)(*) for the same reason.

    Good wingnutter, YOU'RE WRONG, lol

I'VE BEEN ON THIS FOR 8 YEARS BUBBA, I HAVE IT BACKWARDS AND FORARD ON THIS CRAP

Freddie Mac Paid GOP Consulting Firm $2M To Kill Legislation

Freddie Mac secretly paid a Republican consulting firm $2 million to kill legislation that would have regulated and trimmed the mortgage finance giant and its sister company, Fannie Mae, three years before the government took control to prevent their collapse.

In the cross hairs of the campaign carried out by DCI of Washington were Republican senators and a regulatory overhaul bill sponsored by Sen. Chuck Hagel, R-Neb. DCI's chief executive is Doug Goodyear, whom John McCain's campaign later hired to manage the GOP convention in September.

Freddie Mac's payments to DCI began shortly after the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee sent Hagel's bill to the then GOP-run Senate on July 28, 2005. All GOP members of the committee supported it; all Democrats opposed it.

Unknown to the senators, DCI was undermining support for the bill in a campaign targeting 17 Republican senators in 13 states, according to documents obtained by The Associated Press. The states and the senators targeted changed over time, but always stayed on the Republican side.

In the end, there was not enough Republican support for Hagel's bill to warrant bringing it up for a vote because Democrats also opposed it and the votes of some would be needed for passage. The measure died at the end of the 109th Congress.

Does anyone realize our government pays close to 300 billion annually on our debt?

Now factor that considering we're a nation of around 300 million and MAYBE a populace of 125 million workers, now factor in that half don't even make enough to pay taxes and what do you think that interest rate boils down to per worker that DOES pay taxes?

Yet our government wants to spend more?

If we had a Constitutional Amendment that interest payments on the national debt have to be apportioned equally among every adult citizen, I wonder how long deficit spending would last?

He put much of it to good use buba

He is vividly remembered in Russia today as the force that precipitated the Soviet collapse.

“Reagan bolstered the U.S. military might to ruin the Soviet economy, and he achieved his goal,” said Gennady Gerasimov, who served as top spokesman for the Soviet Foreign Ministry during the 1980s.

Reagan’s agenda toward Moscow started shortly after the start of his first term — and marked a major departure from the mild detente of the Jimmy Carter administration.

In 1981, Reagan backed his rhetoric with a trillion dollar defense buildup. U.S.-Soviet arms control talks collapsed, and the two nations targeted intermediate-range nuclear missiles at each other across the Iron Curtain in Europe.

I love you progressives - you act like taxes are somehow factored into government spending before even receiving the revenue...

Of course that is why progressives spend first then raise taxes.

That concept and practice is so dishonest it's mind-boggling.

Exactly, which is why a lot of people don't care.

And we're only talking interest - not our 19 trillion dollar debt.

If most people could even understand what 19 trillion dollars is or even 300 billion annually our nation would collapse.

It's amazing how general stupidity can save us from a collapse...

I'm sure plenty would understand if they had a credit card and were in debt by 2000x what they make annually - certainly that would hit home. Of course our national debt is way beyond that.

Do people realize that if we used one dollar bills stacked to measure our national debt the stack could go to the moon and back 2 1/2 times?

Our national debt can almost be measured in AU (the distance between a planet and the sun).

Why do progressives/communists always resort to caps? Is it because they have no substance and have to use graphical elements to substantiate their insubstantial points?

Or maybe it's just their way of saying, "Look at me! I'm a troll!".

The best part is that progressives call us "haters" or "hatemongers" for being concerned.

Our national debt shouldn't even be a "right vs left" issue... We're in a lot of trouble here and this shouldn't be a political game.

When I was an accountant and accounted for businesses and individuals - politics played no roll in any of that, so I don't even understand how politics can play a role in our national financial situation... Sure we can blame all we want but that doesn't solve the 19 trillion dollar problem.

Our government needs to be audited - that will take years but it needs to happen.

I don't find that to be a tendency in any particular group so your premise is silly bias, but...I do understand the frustration of arguing with the pathetically rigid obtuse person that does not have the cognitive ability to understand that 2+2 always equals 4, regardless of what propaganda tripe they have willingly swallowed.
