when battlefields become politically correct, against an enemy that isn't held to those same standards.... we lose.
I hope he has found peace It's a shame how this Marine was condemned in the court of liberals, but a deserter has his parents welcomed in the Rose Garden What is wrong with our C in C?
that was UnAmerican and doesn't represent our country and was definitely not Patriotic it's a sad story, and sad that this is his memory we all remember about him..... .
The bad guys can extract whatever propaganda value they can out of the video. What many fail to understand on this thread is the nature of asymmetrical warfare. What was served by posting a video of Marines urinating on dead enemy corpses? Revenge? a good laugh? I certainly don't regard urinating on a dead combatant as a particularly egregious war crime, or a crime at all...maybe a "knock it off" from the squad leader. However posting to social media escalated the situation. it was dumb. This particular Marine in question died of an opiate overdose, I fail to see a connection between that and the Obama administration. That's a bit of a stretch in my estimation. What they were filmed doing turned into a public relations issue for the USMC, and examples had to be made. I don't fault the military justice system for that. Filming it, posting to a social media for all the World to see....was dumb.
Yes, I have been in combat, and you would be beside yourself to know what we did to the corpses of dead Vietcong, and what my father told me what they did to dead German's in WWII, makes what I did look like child's play. You liberals need to get over your righteous selves, war is ugly, and it is going to get uglier
had they not made a video and sent it for the world to see, no one would of known or been able to judge them
so what these terrorists are doing is not so bad then? just normal things even American do in war? I can not believe that, I think were better then that, or at least we should be .
True, but who are we to judge. I think it paints us in a worse light than the soldier, we're a bunch of sick f'ks sending a young man to kill others and then judge him for a minor violation of civility. We should be ashamed. Cheers Labour
The guy was a junkie who died from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs. Kind of weird. Sad really.
I disagree, but the person that started this thread about a soldier dying and adding that as his description should be no reason to put that nonsense in the title .
Yeah, with video cameras, cell phones, and reporters everywhere, this war has been practically PG-13 compared to previous conflicts. But yeah, with this particular breed of enemy, I have a feeling it will get very very ugly.
I will assume by his actions that this was eating him inside and that he regretted his actions in hindsight... his actions ultimately were the death of him I mean think about it, he could not even go to the bathroom without this memory coming back to haunt him.. sad case all around .
The guy died from a drug overdose -- aren't these normally situations where the neo-cons come and spit on the deceased grave and call him human trash?
I've never been in combat, I have however been in extreme situations where my adrenalin threatened my emotional stability. While "we" might think we are better than, we are still human complete with the flaws and natural flowing neurotransmitters "we" are all born with. Had the soldier, in the heat of the moment immediate to a fire fight where a buddy was killed, loosed an entire magazine into a group of enemy prisoners, I still might give him a pass. Who am I to judge events actions and emotions on an active battle field? Here we denounced and cut loose this man from our compassion because he urinated on the body of a man that was trying to kill him? Cheers Labour
I was in the Corps. I saw combat. Someone urinating is nothing compared to what goes on. Every single liberal criticizing the man is almost certainly nothing more than a worthless coward.
You obviously have never been in combat, and as the guy you voted for twice said, get off your high horse. War sucks, get used to it
By his actions do you mean the urinating on a deceased body or the killing of other human beings that we asked of him? I'll bet his demons were borne of larger issues than pissing on a corpse. I would also think that the spotlight placed upon him by "us", had an effect larger than this harmless action you elevate to a transgression against humanity worthy of suicide. Silly thought isn't it? Cheers Labour
You'll lose if your soldiers don't (*)(*)(*)(*) on the bodies of dead enemies? I don't think you've quite grasped the finer points of military strategy if you really feel that part is so important to victory.
You are right, it will get much more ugly. Americans in WWII and WWI did some amazing things to our enemies, and never batted an eye, just like myself in Vietnam. I flew a Charlie model gunship helicopter and worked out with the 75th Charlie Rangers, who were an elite American recon unit. One of the soldiers i was friends with would bring me an ear for each of his person kills, and I had them on a string around my neck. They were my good luck charm going into combat Liberals think war is like some kind of tennis match, and I can assure anyone reading this, it is not, it is war, and death is the primary objective
But, but, but in todays Obama's PC military, pissing on the enemy isn't politically correct. Obama might order that you should be court martialed. I suppose if Obama were have been the CnC during WW ll, Gen. Patton would have walked the plank and have been fired by Obama. What did Gen. Patton do when he crossed the Rhine River during WW ll ? He whipped it out and pissed on Germany. Warriors do things like that. Photos don't lie and there was no photo shop back in 1945. http://www.scrapbookpages.com/EasternGermany/Buchenwald/GeneralPatton.html
