The law ONLY requires him to have a qualified health insurance plan. He could purchase a qualified private policy, or go on COBRA. He chose Obamacare, according to MessiahRushie, because it COST the least! He chose Obamacare to SAVE MONEY!!!!
No need. He has to sign up for Obamacare. That's how Senators get healthcare from their employer, now. He's not being hypocritical at all.
Of course it would be the cheapest. It's his employer provided plan. Congress has to get their employer provided plan on the exchange. If he didn't get it on the exchange, it would be out of his own pocket.
False. http://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/news/elections/presidential/caucus/2015/03/24/ted-cruz-health-insurance-obamacare/70384334/ - - - Updated - - - Complete fiction. See above.
Cost the least? Oh, my, it's worse than I thought. The initial cost may be attractive, but wait 'til he has to pay the deductible. Oh, my! Way worse than anything you can imagine. That's exactly what Snerdley says. I dunno. Could be. Cruz ain't no dummy.
I think that only applies if they want their employer provided benefits. They are still free to choose their own plan. Still, why would he choose a private plan, when he can have his employer provided plan for much cheaper? Who wouldn't choose that option?
he is going the cheapest route, which is using ObamaCare... Ironic he doesn't have to do that, there is no law that says he has too... he is choosing to tough
Only if they want it subsidized. Text of the Grassley amendment: The only health plans that the Federal Government may make available to Members of Congress and congressional staff with respect to their service as a Member of Congress or congressional staff shall be health plans that are (I) created under this Act (or an amendment made by this Act); or (II) offered through an Exchange established under this Act (or an amendment made by this Act).
Actually, what he did is a very slick move on his part. He's doing what he's supposed to do, it's not hypocrisy at all.
The only reason it is the cheapest route is Congress pays for most of it as his employer provided insurance.
True, but they'll use it against him for the next 2 years and call him a law breaker. What he did was very smart.
Which is part of his employer provided plan. I wonder how many other members of Congress do the same?
Ted Cruz, the next President of the United States of America is STANDING WITH THE PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!! He is feeling our misery! He is feeling our pain!!!!! He is the most principled, honest candidate since Reagan! Maybe since ABRAHAM LINCOLN. Thank you Ted Cruz...or shall I say, MR. PRESIDENT!
+1 Cruz is the one who sells conservatism without apology. I like Walker, but he is a lightweight in comparison and will waffle when the heat turns up.
Pretty much all of them from BOTH Parties. http://www.nationalreview.com/corne...exempting-his-staff-obamacare-jonathan-strong Grassley Defends Exempting His Staff from Obamacare “I went to the secretary of the Senate and got advice on which the secretary of the Senate considered the law to read. And I’ve done exactly what the law says,” the Iowa Republican says. However, a close inspection of the regulation issued by the Office of Personnel Management says the decision is ultimately Grassley’s, whatever the secretary of the Senate counseled. In fact, the regulation explicitly states that the OPM “will not review or overturn” the decisions by each congressional office to determine whether the requirement applies to them. Grassley’s explanation is also belied by the decision of every Republican leadership office, with the exception of Vice Conference chairman Roy Blunt’s leadership staff, to put their aides on the exchanges. Most Republican committee chairmen and ranking members are following suit, with some exceptions.
Cheapest eh? I can't afford to have insurance through my company (they don't pay any portion of it) because after child support, mortgage, auto loan, insurance, and utilities, I don't have enough left. I can't get subsidies through obamacare because it's even higher than company insurance, and the cheapest I can get would cost me the equivalent of one house note per month, and I'd have to pay $7,500.00 out of pocket before the insurance kicked in. There is absolutely nothing cheap about that. Edit: I can't get subsidies because my company offers insurance. (I forgot to include that)
I always wondered what kind of person you'd need to be to not loathe Cruz. Now I know. A raving, frothing jingoist.
