Move the discussion forward? You seemed to have bowed out of the discussion after my last post to you shredding each and every point that you made. Seems like you still don't want to discuss marriage as a right for gays. Why is that? You never explicitly stated your position and complained when a couple of us brought it up. At the same time, any reasonable person-based on statements that you made about gays- would conclude that you are in fact against marriage. Marriage is fair game on a thread that is about gay rights since marriage is the main thing that this fight is about. Now spell it out for us.

 

1. Well I have no need to dabble in same sex marriage... because for the points I am making SSM doesn't even register.

2. I don't see the point of me stating what my position is on that matter either other than giving you an excuse to dismiss my arguments by labelling me a bigot, as seen in the nature of your posts

Gays have won the marriage issue. The extreme aggressiveness of Gays is about silencing different opinions. Gays can't stand disagreement. They go crazy when opposed.

Thank you for admitting that you can not and will not deal with marriage equality as a gay rights issue on a thread about gay rights. All that you want to do is whine and complain about gay militancy because you think that is what works for you. It doesn't.

I personally do believe the statistics that many Gay couples, in some ways&#8230;&#8230;. actually seem to have some advantages over a heterosexual couple when it comes to the adoption and raising of children.

I have suggested that Canada's Green Party should print up a Green Party Volunteerism Hour or Dollar and use them to partly finance various types of film projects. A documentary or reality film project began where an expectant mother is hired to be an actress playing the role of herself&#8230;&#8230;. an offer from a Gay Couple to adopt her child if she decides to give birth&#8230;.. might add a great deal to the film&#8230;&#8230;.. for example a male gay couple might be more than willing to give the mother a far higher level of visitation rights than a heterosexual couple might offer to her?

So this would be one possible way to reduce the incidence of abortions by expanding the range of choices available to mothers.

I would deeply appreciate it if you would also post into this discussion so that we can both find out more about how this might work.

Here is a possible way to use a Green Party Volunteerism Hour to initiate an expansion of the choices available to expectant mothers.

 

I like your film idea. I am pro choice but I'm not pro abortion and agree that there should be as many alternatives as possible. Too many people are pro life in name only. They are really pro fetus and pro birth and are quite willing to turn their backs on families afterwards-at least that what I see in this country.

I worked in foster care and adoption for a good many years although I have been out of it for 10 now. My US State of New Jersey was the first state to allow the joint adoptions by same sex couples long before they could marry. They are a valuable resource, but I don't really know how much of a dent they could make in the backlog of kids needing adoption.

My experience is mostly with kids who were taken away because the parents could not care for them. Usually not voluntary and not where the child is matched with adoptive parents before birth. It would be interesting to see if you could get this off of the ground. One possible barrier might be that gay couples, like most others will prefer to have a biological child if possible, even if only one is the bio parent ( although I heard something about how a woman can carry a child conceived from the sperm of two man and have the DNA of both)

It seems that there is likely to be political and moral outrage on the part of those who will call it favoritism and special rights for gays. But I wish you luck!

To be sure , you don't know me well...There is a little bit of baggage that I would have to overcome:

1) The least of it is the fact that I've never held any elective office. But it gets worse. Much worse.

2) I was involved in a radical Marxist cult in the 80's

3) May wife and I have hosted naked orgies at our home

4) We were residents of a nudist colony for a time

5) I was jailed on charges of selling drugs and pled guilty

6) I have a less than stellar military record
