If you say so, I do not know one person, Con or Lib that wants illegals to have the right to vote.
Amnesty and Gay marriage are a different topic but I will remind you that many Cons also support both.
You guys, I am not a Dem put nice try at a personal attack, I will consider the source next time around.

They could pay a sales tax - but they don't pay income tax. An employer has to withhold each employe's FICA contribution and file it with a corresponding SS#.

Illegals - are - illegal. They get paid "under the table" an no income taxes are withheld. That's also illegal on the worker - and the employer's side. All illegals workers are ripping off our system.

Not only should they not be allowed to vote - they should not be in this country.

If illegals were likely to vote Republican, I doubt 53% of Democrats would be in favor of them voting.

Although the term "Democrat" wasn't aimed at you, neither was it an attack, personal or otherwise. Democratic support for illegal immigrants voting is the topic of this thread after all.

Four years ago there were plenty of Democrats who opposed gay marriage, including the President and the current front runner for the Democratic race for President. Now, both of them have switched positions and Democrats at the national level who oppose gay marriage are pretty scarce. I suspect that will be the case with illegal voting. The Democratic party has thrown in their future to pandering to people who are not even citizens yet, so this seems inevitable.

I am thankful for your post. It perfectly illustrates to normal people the importance of never ever voting for leftist grime. Please keep posting your comments. They are great conservative advertisements.

I'm saddened by your post. Online debating is for people to learn more. Can't very well learn when you refuse to explain to me your position. How am I supposed to know why it's wrong if you won't explain to me why you think it's wrong?

I'm not familiar with the laws surrounding income tax, so excuse me on that point. So then I will offer you this, if they could vote, wouldn't it make sense then that they would want to have some sort of legislation that will let them be there, which could then be used for taxing purposes? Give them the right to vote, and then use that to make them pay taxes.

You said it was unamerican. You never said why it was unamerican. You said that it stamped on the graves of veterans, you never said why. Why matters. The only argument that you made that I could even remotely understand is that it is right now illegal. Then I said it doesn't matter if it's illegal now because we would legalize it in the future.

Do you think that it is one day possible for the government to get out of the economy? That one day it is possible for the left's policies to fail miserably? Do you think that the future is unwritten and anything can could happen. Nice try poisioning the well, but your lack of a counter argument still shines through.

The lefts policies already have failed miserably. Now, I asked you if you thought child rape may become legal in the future. Stop dodging and answer.

Okay, I understand on the income tax thing. No biggie. My thing is that we have Europeans, East Indians and Asians on waiting lists to immigrate here. We take quotas - actual quotas - on professions, etc. When they come here - they follow the rules - yet the people streaming up from south of the border follow no rules. ICE deports them and they're back the next month.

I don't believe we should reward illegal behavior. We should deport them - keep them out. Period. When they want to immigrate here - they should follow the rules citizens in the rest of the world have to follow.

No, they should not vote. They do not have the best interest of our nation at heart.

Actually, there should be a test in order to be able to vote.

What if the behavior is the child of the actual problem though? What if by getting rid of them we're not actually confronting the actual problem? So we could keep deporting them, but all the does is make them come back with knowledge on how to cross the border. It also doesn't explain how we should deal with people who are here unlawfully after their visas expired. They built lives in the US, so why not let them have a place to stay and help build the community by getting involved. Then we have people who don't want anymore illegal immigration and can also work on solving the nation's problems though their narrative.

I dont expect you to. The point was to illustrate to you that when faced with your own ideology you dont like it and even categorize it as poison. I find that fascinating.

I think it all still goes back to the methods we use to deal with illegal behavior. Ethically (and logistically), we can't allow a very large group of people from one region to illegally swarm our border and then expect people from other countries to comply with the rules we've established.

If we allow the illegal aliens from Central America to stay, despite the fact that they entered without identification or permission, we might as well quit requiring anyone from anywhere in the world to jump through hoops to live here.

We simply can't do that. No country in the world does that.

That said - we do have some issues we need to address, such as children being brought here by parents. These children have broken no laws - only their parents have. The best method of dealing with them is to block entry - or, alternately - deport as soon as possible. When a child grows up here - goes to school here - learns to speak English fluently, should we deport him/her because of his/her parents' crimes? We are not a nation of punishing children for the crimes of their parents, so sure, we have to take that into consideration.

But, until an immigrant is a citizen, legally, they should not be allowed to vote. If they are sincere in their desire to become a citizen, they must go through the correct channels and swear allegiance to this nation - as all other legal immigrants must do.

We can't have a double standard. Until an immigrant is a citizen, no matter how he entered the country - he's not a citizen and should never vote.

Why not? IT isn't like they can pick representatives any worse than we already are doing.

You're poisoning the well, why would I lower myself to that level? If you were interested in a debate, I would answer. Since it's clear you're not, I will not answer it.

I get what you're saying, but the problem is then it doesn't solve the issue at hand because it's denying them a political voice. Yes, it might be unethical to let them vote, but if it keeps the problem going then it's not a good solution. It might seem like a difficult option to support, but if it is done, then abuses in the system can be fixed.

If we let them vote then they have a political voice which to address their problems, one of which is going to be steady employment. If they can get the right to vote, then they're going to start voting to fix the problems, like companies that hire illegal workers have to pay them decent wages. This makes it so American workers could compete with illegal labor, thus there's no need to use illegal labor. Or better yet it can help with the naturalization process. By keeping them in one community, they're not going to be hiding for fear of deportation. They'll be more willing to be part of the community and thus integration into American society will be easier.

I think that's putting the cart before the horse. For example, we don't take absentee ballots into jails and prisons and allow the inmates to vote. It would be counterproductive to society because they would vote for candidates that promised to set them free, regardless of whether those candidates would otherwise be good leaders.

However, once those inmates serve their time and rejoin society as contributing members, they then should have their right to vote restored. Voting is a privilege for citizens who follow our laws. By definition, those who are here illegally, are not following our laws, so they should not be given that privilege.

Would allowing them to vote solve problems? I'm not so sure it would. I think it would just shift the problem to a different arena. I think we have to recognize that we are a nation of laws and that we can't absolve illegal Central American immigrants from their crimes without opening our borders completely.

I just don't think that would be feasible, although I can tell you are coming from a place of compassion. I'm all for helping LEGAL immigrants assimilate with ease. But, some of the loudest voices against the illegals comes from those who did the right thing and came here legally.
