If the extortionist is government, you should pay. The authoritarians will come out of the woodwork and demand that these people be put in the modern day debtor's prison, where, they hope, those people will be kept in small cells, bullied, raped, etc.

    Wrong...
They sell services to gays and straights.
They don't sell gay wedding services to gays or straights.

Surely you can tell the difference by now....

The most they should have been fined is for cab money to go to another bakery.

All this will do is increase the number of nuisance lawsuits by golddiggers, and disincentivize anyone productive enough to have a business from continuing to serve the public.

There are already quite a few members-only commodity clubs, and perhaps incidents like this will cause almost everything to be run that way.

Absolutely agreed, though it's not as bad as the man to has to shell out $400k to some trannys because he hurt their feelings. He also had to shut down his business and lay off employees.

The 14th amendment applies to Christians yet they aren't born that way it's "in the mind". Was I clear enough for you that time or do you require further explanation?

$135,000 for butthurt people, who didn't lose anything due to the refusal of a business transaction. They weren't physically or mentally assaulted. I have zero issues with gay people. I do have a lot of problems with the gay activists who target people and businesses.

The bakers forced one of them to start smoking again. Didn't you know that. The bakers jumped one of them, holding that person down, while threatened the person with a gun unless that one chain smoked a whole pack of Marlboro reds - or something like that. Didn't you read the case?

No, Christians have NO constitutional rights whatsoever. The 7th amendment says the bakers had a right to a jury trial. Denied.

It also is required that as a condition of being in business the subscribe to Oregon's official religion for business owners, agnosticism.

In a lot of parts in this country, you'd lose more business if you were seen as accommodating this unpopular minority. It actually made good business sense to keep seating blacks in the back of the restaurant, and not be seen as too accommodating to uppity negros and the very market forces folks laud as solving this, could not and did not, until the feds forced simultaneous change on all the barbershops, restaurants and motels so that local patrons, suppliers and truckers could not boycott businesses that desegregated without hurting themselves as much as the business they targeted.

If I and my partner are in the middle of Mississippi, how many bakers, how many miles, should I be expected to travel, to find anyone who is willing to bake and decorate my cake when the greatest social force generating income and opportunity for most rural and small town entrepreneurs is the conservative Baptist church.

Selling a product to one but not the other IS a violation of the states anti-discrimination laws. If you choose to OFFER a product or service you can not discriminate based on sexual orientation of the person purchasing that item.

What are gay cakes and gay flowers? I wasn't aware that floral arrangements and baked goods had sexual orientations. Maybe they wanted basic straight flowers and cakes.

Someone having to go to a different bakery isn't widespread segregation.

Why would they need to be facing criminal charges to get a jury trial?

    - - - Updated - - -

No, they weren't denied something they supposedly had a right to, at least not when it comes to a trial. States are not bound to the 7th amendment. The fact that they are punished at all is a travesty perpetrated by an authoritarian state.

Big difference between not wanting to serve you because you look like you had no money and not wanting to serve you because you were gay, black, Hispanic, Asian, etc,.
