Exactly, if we cut down our wants, look at our needs, think about the future it will happen, if we don't, we will need to redesign glasses.

As compared to what... believing a conspiracy founded on the desire of one MP in South Australia to have more business in his electorate just because it agrees with my political bias. nah thanks I'll avoid baseless conspiracy theories for now. If that makes me a righty, then thank gawd!

It's there in black and white for all to see, it's quite clear to most and as usual the only thing that makes you right is your own ill founded ego.

Now we can steer clear of the ignorant lie you create here by NOT reading your own supportive link and HOPEFULLY discuss the topic you raise.
I am little surprised that you have clearly shown no idea what this product is... You talk about nuclear plants and again blame the Coalition. Are you really aware of the situation you are complaining about???

I do believe AM has brought you kicking and screaming back to the point of creating a central point to store radioactive waste from Australia. If you had truly read the article and proceeded to do the slightest research you would become aware of one thing,
    http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-11-...tlist-sites-for-nuclear-waste-storage/6937244
Of you do not know or are unable to remember this is AUSTRALIA’S waste. If you follow the UN conventions on sale of radioactive material then you have to agree that this is Australia’s responsibility not the rest of the worlds.

Secondly, were do you think majority of this radioactively material is stored??? In fact ALL you seem to be complaining about is Australia’s Lucas Heights material which actually accounts for very little.
So OK you claim that Australia can reduce its use of radioactive use… Perhaps you could tell us How to get X-rays without it??? If you actually just look about your house you will find several sources of nuclear waste and are very prepared to have others wear because of YOUR altruistic non-use of radioactive devices…

Ok so let us leave all this waste were it is… let us wear the economic results of storing waste throughout the country, why??? So you can feel good about your ideals. OR we could do what Sweden and France and create a central deposit which reduces not only the COST of storage by reducing the locations but also removes a burden of cost from other areas of the budget. What areas??? Health being one as it is a MAJOR contributor to Australia’s nuclear waste and major storage area of nuclear waste at present…

So when you get past the lies, maybe we could talk about the reality of the situation…

Your whole conspiracy theory is an exercise in misrepresenting one MP's opinion as Gov policy and reading between the lines, and you say that ^^ LOL

And you accuse me of being arrogant... hmmm yea, you seem to like projecting yourself onto others a lot. No wonder you hate what you see... its yourself.

Good, now we are getting somewhere. It has now been pointed out to you that the waste dump in question is for storing our own (Australian) waste and not waste from other countries. So now it is time to man up and admit your claims in the OP are wrong. Yes it IS a good idea and NO it is not about making Aus. the worlds nuclear waste dump.

So what is meant by the words "that Australia gets the financial benefits like Sweden and France?" All the rest is there to read, but this part is a veiled comment to cover their ass's

No one is arguing that what you say is not what is written in the article, no one is saying that this is not a good thing. The other bit however leaves the very good possibility of a Pandora's Box to be opened in the future.

With little effort we find things like this
    And
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-level_radioactive_waste_management
Now all this does is point out your obvious flaw in interpreting the article linked. I am sure it is written to be misinterpreted but again that is irrelevant the point is you continue to carry that issue. Fact is, the comment was stated to align Australian policy to those nations who are constructively ahead of Australia in this area and enjoying the economic benefits from so doing… To continue to suggest your interpretation is the correct one will need evidence, which seems very lacking at the moment.
The future is what it is, we can only deal with the present. If the world continued to look to the future with the ideal that issue such as those you allude to MIGHT come about then we would be still living in caves. The real point of this is to ensure there are enough safeguards in place to ensure what policy is made in the future can be scrutinised by all. Simply complaining the world might collapse, is just being negative for the sake of it.

Oh and don’t get me wrong, this is NOT a partisan issue, If you really want to examine this issue you will have to start were the deal to ship 25t of nuclear waste to France was made. Some 26 years ago under ALP government. If you want to complain a party for or against this situation, I do believe the ALP and Greens alliance during the last government had made SA the main target of waste storage. Oh, that is right THE GREENS agreed to such at the time.

I still believe (considering the sites presented) the ALP and Greens did have good point to make it SA after all that is where a majority of the Australian radioactive material comes from. It is just ridiculous that they then sat on it and did nothing as they appeared to do throughout their six years of office…

    Bull(*)(*)(*)(*),
we will soon take radioactive waste from all 4 corners of this planet, talks are on their way for quite some time.
Why are you denying what is evident?

After considerably small amount of reading on this, I do believe that you should really consider a far more neutral evidentiary link...

Now I must say the source here is the problem as it turns out it is a conspiracy theorist movement trying to justify their belief. BUT when you read
    http://www.foe.org.au/anti-nuclear/issues/oz/import-waste
Well I would have to ask, if Hawk in 2014 is not going to get his way, what government would you believe is blocking that??? I think the source should be far more reliable than this, as it actually shows your wrath of hatred to the Coalition is based entirely on YOUR fallacy NOT the Coalition…

    Hmmm,

So you have nothing but your own hatred... that figures.

Boo hoo, your being picked on because you have nothing real to support YOUR lies and the big bad man is showing the truth. Grow up, I have provided source (yours to be precise) to refute your claims and show your fabrications.

I have also asked to move past your lies and we can actually talk about the policy. It is YOU who wants to hang your hat on the lies you created.

If you had actually stood up and stated you are cynical of the intentions of the Coalition in this matter, that could be basis for objection but NO, you claimed it as fact and provide supportive evidence that actually demonstrates your claim is a lie...
Yes, Until you show the error in my ways.

But you want to play the victim, complain that somebody else is more arrogant than you. Oh woe is you… your being picked on.

Just as I have said previously, all you want to do is find like-minded people to add support for your opinion. My question is why are you on this forum if you don’t like having your claims and opinions challenged??? If you cannot support your own claims and want to lie to yourself and the rest of the world, maybe you should just stick to face book. After all you would have filled that with all your likeminded people…

I don't know how much you know about the history of the Australian Greens party, but would suggest before your kneel down and worship them as the second coming, I would do some research.

You just might be very surprised at the massive environmental detrimental effects the Greens have had on Australia and its citizens. It would be worth a few hours of your time, if you're as open minded as you claim you are.

I will give you hint. Who do you think was the major contributors behind Australian companies changing from paper and glass products to plastic in the 1980's? Plastic that now takes 1000's of years to degrade.

So let's say you are right, we are going to be storing nuclear waste from other countries. Why are you opposed to that? You are the one who is constantly bleating about how Australia should be a good global citizen, take more refugees, stop mining coal etc etc. So if we have the best and safest geological structures in the world for storing nuclear waste should we not be a good global citizen and store all the waste here instead of having it stored in less safe places in other countries?

Would you tell your kids they have to deal with this stuff for 30 thousand years?
And how do you know its safe where it gona be stored? How do you know that in advance?
How come bloody Libs can make decisions for such a long time frame?
There has always been a strong opposition towards nuclear energy in my country, and I wish for a referendum on this matter!

As usual you failed to address the point I was making. Re-read my post and this time try and and reply to the point I am making, you will need to use the phrase "good global citizen".

FOR first question,,, YES, they will have to deal with it anyway otherwise what is YOUR plan send it away and have somebody else deal with it??? Or do you have some sort of way of rendering it safe???

Two that is the intention, to make safe storage, Personally I don't think it is safe NOW, so better alternative must be found. If you don't want to come to the table and work out Australia’s responsibility... If all you want to do is complain about WHO is making the decisions while ignoring the problems, then you have not got a leg to stand on, all you are doing is whining for the sake of it.

Because the ALP and the Greens continued to procrastinate and ignore the problem when they had the opportunity. In other words, simply because the people YOU want to make the decisions cannot… Somebody has to; you cannot stick your head in the sand and hope it goes away.

I would like to think Australia addresses its own problems (like you continue to claim they should). You seem to now want to ignore it and just hope it goes away…
Well, we could point this out to be one of the biggest lies I have seen on the forum for a while considering the reality. So do you want to tell the truth that there has been a strong opposition to nuclear power being built in Australia??? Again have a look at those white goods in the kitchen, check your fire alarm, maybe your local X-ray machine, We need to dispose of that radioactive material, or should we have a referendum on that as well…

Seriously??? You have no idea about what radioactive material people use??? Are you so ignorant you have any comprehension of the waste that is being discussed here???

DID YOU EVEN READ YOUR OWN LINK???

Now if you want to simply remain ignorant so you can bash the government for your perceived issues, that is fine. Just don't continue to give the rest of the world an excuse to look to the stupid Australians.

I place a challenge for you, GO and look at the back of your smoke detectors, go and have a look at the back of your microwave. When you see the radioactive sticker don't just pretend your unable to comprehend it. YOU BROUGHT THEM...

Anyway, Don’t get sick, after all your against use of radioactive material use no matter what. Many treatments and frankly something you want to remain ignorant to MEDICAL RADIOACTIVE WASTE which if you are unaware is the biggest contributor to Australia’s waste problem. Oh, and guess were that is stored at this present time.

Honestly, does grey matter actually get any use before you post you bile and hatred???

I am not sure what you want to get at, is it the use of nuclear power???

Are you suggesting to the world you are so blinded by hate for political parties you will fabricate your hatred of policy while ignoring the need for decent policy to address serious situations pure and simply because whatever you support is different??? Or is this some perceived future policy you have decided has to be objected too anytime something that sounds like it has relevance is raised???

We know that Cat has serious and disturbing hatred of a political party. This thread being a good example, Get a link post a thread with confected hate and bile with fabrications of the REAL situation while pretending their particular party is just so innocent at this issue. Well in this particular case the party supported by the creator of the thread IS innocent because they refuse to address it while in power.

However, I should not be surprised that you want to complain about policy that has nothing to do with the premise of the thread of creating a central safe storage for AUSTRALIA’s radioactive waste material… After all you constantly Spam this section of the forum with your confected hatred of things you clearly are unable to understand. Suggestion, want to be taken seriously, start actually talking about things you know about and support your claims with decent links, otherwise all you are doing is spamming and trolling…
