^Don't judge the link, judge the material and find the exact same factual information in millions of other links.

Ever since a DuPont family member married into Congress, Hemp was banned, even though it was the better plastic. *check your history*
Anyone with a brain wants to end this crony form of Capitalism where a Corporation can gain enough power to Regulate another out of business.

If Hemp is over-regulated and only a few scientists even have the ability to test it and it attacked cancer..................then let them test it with lower regulations and see what it does!

    *FURTHER*

This is one of the topics people are turning Socialist over. This fact isn't new, it's old. This theory that "we can't find a cure for cancer because it would put too many people out of jobs" is and has been becoming way more than a theory..

Frankly if finding a cure for cancer results in job losses it would be a small price to pay-especially given the appalling odds of developing the disease. One in three, I believe?

Depends. There are artificially produced hybrid strains of cannabis in which the active ingredient has been modified to be extremely strong, and there are suggested links to those with damaging psychoses. These strains do not appear naturally.

Marijuana should be legal no matter if it cures cancer or gives you aids.

Why should marijuana be legal if it gives you AIDS? You're ok with some company embedding a viable AIDS virus in marijuana? That's messed up.

Are you OK with Campbell's embedding salmonella in their soups?

For things like this, if one business venture is closed, a new one opens itself up. The fact is that some, if not many, folks can't see past their own two feet, so they have no idea how to proceed past their own ignorance & self worth. To them, it doesn't matter what's good for others, it only matters what's good for them.

When it comes to this, I'm, personally, tired of waiting for an "elite" group of individuals to say what's good or not. I truly don't know what it will take for folks to wake up and stop pleading to ignorant individuals, that only care about sucking down more big corp money. Unless you or I have millions of dollars sitting in our bank account, nearly none of them, if not none at all, truly don't care for our well beings. To me, our world's morale compass has significantly altered to where, again, some, if not many, folks only care about themselves.

For me, in early 2015, I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I'm currently only 33 years old, very young age to get these lifelong diseases. While I will admit, it's no where near cancer or any of the other serious ailments that haunt our very existence. However, it's a quicker death sentence, nonetheless, one that can alter it's course for the worse, at any given time. It requires constant monitoring, and to be brutally honest, I'm flat out tired of dealing with it. I hate taking medication for it (Actually, just got my meds lowered from 1000mg twice a day to 500mg twice a day, but still pills nonetheless), hate sticking myself to check my blood sugar twice a day, and I seriously don't want to do this for the rest of my life. I can't eat very many sweets or take in too many carbs, as it is highly detrimental to my body. I could go on and on about my woes, but it's a moot point, honestly.

I recently been doing some research and found this article: Latent autoimmune diabetes in adults (AKA LADA). Researchers are discovering a new form of diabetes, not quite type 2 nor type 1. It's in the middle between the two, so they also call this type 1.5 diabetes. This is because it has qualities that are consistent with both types of diabetes, but if having auto-antibodies present in your system, it could lead to type 1 diabetes (IE: Insulin shots will be required, pills will no longer work). This is relevant to me because in 2014 through 2015, prior to my official diagnosis, I dropped approximately 50-60lbs. My wife said I wasn't doing anything different, I thought I was (As I was actively trying to lose weight, what are the odds?). Not to mention that I was also diagnosed with diabetes at a young age, two vital indications that I may very well be at risk for this. Not to mention I could be expediting the arrival of type 1 diabetes, if this disease isn't properly treated.

The reason I bring this up is because it's not only cancer that this needs to be stated it can help cure. As researchers at NIH have discovered a potential pathway to treating, and potentially curing, this disease, seen here: Endocannabinoids Trigger Inflammation That Leads to Diabetes. Now I know you might be reading it and saying 'This looks like cannabis is actually doing more damage to the body'. While I would say you are correct, that killing of the beta cells within the pancreas is definitely not a good thing (In fact, if the auto-antibodies are present in my body, I'm already doing that to myself already). However, researchers have discovered that if they can prevent and/or block the receptors from destroying the beta cells within the pancreas, this can lead to reducing the severity of diabetes, as quoted here:

Put frankly, there are so many more things this plant can do, not just hemp, but also cannabis. All the while folks sit behind their desks, trying to dictate what others can/can't put into their body, we're, as humans, slowly dying. What's even more disturbing, WHO (World Health Organization) released a report (http://www.newsweek.com/diabetes-global-prevalence-world-health-organization-444575) showcasing that diabetes have quadrupled since 1980. Currently estimated to have 422 million people living with diabetes. The worst part? There is no cure for this disease.

To that end, this is where my fight begins. While diabetes certainly isn't the #1 killer (Heart failures & cancer being #1 and #2, respectively, followed by diabetes at #3), but it's damn sure killing a lot of us. Since there are more folks living with this disease, it's only a matter of time before this disease starts becoming a front runner. And let me tell you, this isn't the first time I'll say that I don't want to be first in line. We're, as humans, all going to die someday, but I definitely don't want some disease, that I didn't ask for, that becomes my killer.

I will help find a cure for this, before I pass on, even if it does put me in a early grave. I don't care what the DEA, FDA, FBI, DOJ, NYPD, LAPD, EPA, White House, Congress, or any other government organization has to say about what they "think" is the best for us, as humans. They can make suggestions to what they "think" is the best, but it's my responsibility to ensure I make the right/best decision for my health. I went from a 11.2 A1C to a 5.6 A1C (11.2 was before I knew I had diabetes, 5.6 was after I began managing it), my doctor said flatly, "I've never had anyone drop their A1C from that high to a normal one, you are the first. You are the one who did that, not your medication". If that's to be believed, then cannabis is where I feel is the next best route for this disease, for me personally (I understand not everyone can use it). If it kills me, eff it, we've, as humans, already been given a death sentence at birth, mine is just going to be a little bit quicker than most. Why not let me see if I can live the longest life possible?

    http://www.cancerresearchuk.org/about-cancer/cancers-in-general/cancer-questions/does-smoking-cannabis-cause-cancer

TL-DR, there is no clear definition on if smoking cannabis causes lung cancer. This is just another armchair quarterback government agency wanting to put their two cents into something, make them feel relevant ("Look maw, I gots myself one of dem gud jawbs"). Not to mention, it's also been studied that vaporizing cannabis is less harmful than smoking it (http://www.livescience.com/46536-vaporizing-marijuana-benefits-risks.html).

Thus, it's a null point, that can easily get around. That's also not to mention that there are edibles out there, that medication can be taken like that. In fact, it's been proven that edibles are even more potent in edibles, due to how the body absorbs the THC (http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2014/06/13/smoke-vs-snack-why-edible-marijuana-is-stronger-than-smoking.html). In other words, tell the Department of Health, and all of those other agencies that want to open their mouth, to just shut up and light one up. Hell, they can go eat a brownie, if they don't want to risk lung cancer. :smoking:

    From your own article.
After adjusting for various confounding factors, no association between marijuana use and mood and anxiety disorders was found. The only significant associations were increased risk of alcohol use disorders, nicotine dependence, marijuana use disorder, and other drug use disorders.

Too much of anything will have effects on someone.

Maybe i went to far with the aids example, being a transmittable disease and all, but my point being marijuana should not be legal just because someone found a health benefit and neither it should be illegal because might possibly damage your brain in some way. Adults should be free to make their choices about how they treat their own bodies.

How does marijuana use affect school, work, and social life?

"Research has shown that marijuana's negative effects on attention, memory, and learning can last for days or weeks after the acute effects of the drug wear off, depending on the user’s history with the drug.51 Consequently, someone who smokes marijuana daily may be functioning at a reduced intellectual level most or all of the time."

What are marijuana’s effects on general physical health?

"Within a few minutes after inhaling marijuana smoke, a person's heart rate speeds up, the breathing passages relax and become enlarged, and blood vessels in the eyes expand, making the eyes look bloodshot (red). The heart rate—normally 70 to 80 beats per minute—may increase by 20 to 50 beats per minute or may even double in some cases. Taking other drugs with marijuana can amplify this effect.

Marijuana smoke, like tobacco smoke, is an irritant to the throat and lungs and can cause a heavy cough during use. It also contains toxic gases and particles that can damage the lungs. Marijuana smoking is associated with large airway inflammation, increased airway resistance, and lung hyperinflation, and regular marijuana smokers report more symptoms of chronic bronchitis than non-smokers.69 Smoking marijuana may also reduce the respiratory system’s immune response, increasing the likelihood of the user acquiring respiratory infections, including pneumonia.70 One study found that frequent marijuana smokers used more sick days than other people, often because of respiratory illnesses.71"

I'd always believed that of course they could find a cure for cancer, but wasn't going to happen b/c it would effect the profits of the multi-billion $ pharmaceutical companies....no $ for them if people were to healthy.

About 8 yrs ago my one daughter had a bout w/leukemia - now cancer free and since then has been reading health articles. About a yr ago she came across vitamin B17 which said it doesn't cure cancer, but prevents it. It's found in the pit of some fruit, like the apricot. Crack open the pit and inside is the edible vit B17.

Later we went to the health store, when a clerk asked me if she could help me, I asked 'do you sell vitamin B17?' Her answer was 'No, it's illegal to sell it in this state'.....and I know that's all they can say, so I asked "Why? Because of the pharmaceutical companies?' ...."Yes." They do sell it in Oregon.........

Never tried marijuana, had a negative attitude about it until I started reading stories about how a component of it prevents seizures and the stories I read involved children who really suffered from them.....until that part of pot was given to them and drastically reduced the seizures and the kids were doing great and no side effects.......

So don't smoke it; take it orally in tablet form, baked in a cake or in liquid suspension.

Yes. A girlfriend of mine took it to alleviate her multiple sclerosis symptoms. It worked.

Glad it helps her. I have a neighbor friend who was attacked yrs ago by street thugs and took a severe beating to the head - left him brain damaged and has excruciating headaches at times - he smokes medicinal pot and said it really helps. Whatever works for those who are suffering, let them have it.........

I personally think it will create just as many jobs. It's not just "smoke it you won't get cancer". There will be research on the most significant strands never ending.

That's a Libertarian perspective. It makes sense until you think about how much $ you are going to have pumped into keeping the people with aids alive via health insurance and other. Insurance goes up because someone thought it was ok to do something SELFISH and STUPID knowing it can give you AIDS.

Luckily this is just a Libertarian perspective and not really on topic.

Medical use has nothing to do with smoking it. This is information that should be known to everyone by now. Watch the link if you want to learn more. Change and learning will be harder for some than others.

Professor Peabody why are you so off topic? You seem to know little about the medical use of hemp. You keep talking about side affects of people who use it constantly and the topic is about it curing cancer and PREVENTING DEATH.

Your perspective sounds like a joke when I put it like this. "I don't want to cure my cancer if I'm going to increase my heart rate and it irritates my throat. I might cough and it might damage my lungs. I don't want to damage my lungs, I may as well let cancer kill me".

Try to stay on topic and post something significant to the conversation/debate.

You don't even know that you don't smoke medical hemp, which means you have done less than 1 hours research on the topic....

There is a vitamin out there that is a hoax prevention. Someone made millions off the misery of others. It's why caskets are the biggest price mark-up in the USA, no one questions the price when the reason is big enough. They sell it by stating "these tribes in this area never get cancer" but it's really only because they aren't exposed to the chemicals everyone else is exposed to. They are isolate.

If it's the same one, they say it's in almonds. Just eat the almonds. The tribes don't have access to the vitamin pills...

The fact that you worry more about jobs than lives says a lot...

And again, they can work in hemp cancer research to find the best strands.

For the vast majority of people .. the answer is no according to the study.

The study in your link showed that only those with a specific variant of the AKT1 gene had a higher incidence of psychosis and ONLY for those that used every day.

Folks with the AKT1 gene that used on weekends or less did not show any significant increase.

The other study showed that folks with another genetic variant who used pot as an adolescent had schizophrenia but no mention of the numbers of people who actually have this variant were given or how the study was done. It does not give the percentage of people who had the gene variant but did not develop schizo ?

Bad or misleading science is really common on these Gov't anti drug sites. It will probably turn out that the risk to the average person is almost non existent.

As long as it is made blatantly known to the consumer, sure.

If I want to give myself AIDs by smoking laced weed then I should be able to - it's my body, so long as my consent is received myself and the supplier should be able to put hemlock in our product.

This is a very free market laissez-faire principle.
