Indeed up for auction is the infamous gun used to kill Trayvon Martin. Apparently, Zimmerman has decided to sell what he calls a piece of American history.

While he is well within his rights to do so, is this something one should do? Certainly Zimmerman has never shied away form shameless self promotion with his appearances at gun shows an his rather (in my opinion) horrific version of art.

What private collector would want this? UIs this a peer to a gun used in what has years later been considered historical? The gun that shot Billy the Kid or Jesse James?

Or just a cheap piece of junk used by an overzealous self appointed security guard?

George Zimmerman, the man who was acquitted in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, is selling his gun.

The 9-mm pistol that Zimmerman, 32, said he used to shoot and kill Trayvon Martin Feb. 26, 2012, is up for sale today on gunbroker.com.

"The firearm for sale is the firearm that was used to defend my life and end the brutal attack from Trayvon Martin," Zimmerman wrote on the auction site. "Many have expressed interest in owning and displaying the firearm including The Smithsonian Museum in Washington D.C. This is a piece of American History.”

In an interview with FOX Florida station WOGX-TV, Zimmerman confirmed that he put the firearm used in the killing of Martin on the auction block.

"I'm a free American I can do what I like with my possessions," he said, adding, "it's time to move past the firearm, and if I sell it and it sells, and I move past it."

The auction goes live at 11 a.m. ET today with bids starting at $5,000. Almost 50,000 have visited the page, according to the site.

It has been more than four years since the fatal confrontation took place in a gated community in Sanford, Florida. Martin, 17, was heading back to a relative's house after leaving a convenience store when he was shot by Zimmerman.

Prosecutors accused Zimmerman of profiling Martin as a criminal and following him with a loaded gun. Zimmerman maintained that he shot Martin in self-defense after he was knocked to the ground and Martin was banging his head against the pavement. Zimmerman is a white Hispanic and Martin was black.

A Florida jury found Zimmerman not guilty of second-degree murder and manslaughter in July 2013.

All the press seems to imply that ISIS is bombing Shiites in Sadr City and elsewhere just for the sake of killing Shiites. Is that all there is to their targeting, or do think there is more to it?

IMO all firearms used to terminate violent criminals should not be allowed to be sold. Too valuable. The gun that killed Mike Brown should go in the Louvre.

 

It's his property, he can do with it as he sees fit.

Agreed. The message is that the left celebrated the attack on Zimmerman. Just as the bigots celebrated Mike Brown attempting to kill a cop. Until they own up to that and shame those criminals, then Zimmerman and others like him will continue to get celebrated. For god sakes, Obama said if he had a child, it would look like Trayvon. That is the dumbest thing the leader of the free world can do when the kid viciously attacked someone.

 

He should donate the gun to a law abiding family that happens to live near a ghetto.

 

I see no problem with him auctioning it off.

It isn't an icon and the only thing that is going happen with the money from the sale is it will go into his pocket, but he certainly can sell it and try to get what he can for it.

As for rehashing the events? It was an election season and Democrats used the incident to try to drive black voters to the polls.

It is not a complex story. He saw what he believed was a suspicious person. He called the police while watching where the person when. That person violently attacked him. He shot the attacker. The attacker died. He was found not guilty by a jury. People who hate guns and believe it is every citizen's duty to agree to be raped or murdered hate him. Those who believe in a right to use a gun do not. There is nothing more to it than that and other than a political tool for Democrats never was.

How many were murdered in Chicago just on Mother's Day? Not one member of this forum can name even one of the victims. The Zimmerman stuff was 100% just election racial division politics. That's all it ever was.

 

Well apparently it doesn't work that way to some. They screwed up in the beginning trying to paint Zimmerman as some gun toting right wing white racist, but then they found out he is half Hispanic and a registered democrat they had to back up a bit and use "white Hispanic" to keep their hopes of creating racial tension alive.

 

A gun that led to America finally waking up to the lunacy of liberals and the black plantation. Along with the gun that removed that parasite Mike Brown from society, might have done more to wake up the silent majority than any single item in the last 20 years or more.

Not that Zim used a Smith and Wesson, but that stock was at about 5.16 the day he took out Martin. Today it is 22.84. Just sayin'.
