Don’t Let Donald Trump Explain Away His Muslim Ban As Merely A ‘Suggestion’

As he shifts gears ahead of the general election, presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump has been busy softening his stance on a number of issues — including self-funding his campaign, taxing the wealthy, raising the federal minimum wage and cutting entitlement spending like Social Security and Medicare.
But perhaps the biggest — and most brazen — attempt to make himself more palatable to the GOP establishment and general election voters alike is his recent comment spinning his controversial call to ban all Muslims from entering the United States as “just a suggestion.”

He has enough dummies he fooled into voting for him making excuses for the way he duped them. Don't expect anyone who voted for this ignorant pile of goo to own up to their mistakes. They are going to drive right off a cliff with him. Let's hope they don't hit anything soft.

"I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn't lose voters."

It'll be funny watching them explain away his shifting "policies" as the election proceeds.

I have a feeling that some (the smart ones) will be feeling buyer's remorse well before the general election.

They deserve it. ANYONE with even a modicum of sense can see a huckster like Trump coming from a mile away. Wait until the Mexican wall becomes merely a "passing thought"...a "mere whim"...:roflol:

Granted, Obama seems to believe is he dictator and you may hate our constitutional government. But in fact, all the President can do is make suggestions to Congress.

I don't know. They would only feel remorse if he were to go soft on illegal immigration and trade. But it's not like, should that happen, they're going to say "Dang, I SHOULD have voted for Hillary!" Has she said a word about border control?

will you be holding accountable all the democrats who also went along with suspended acceptance of all refugees until we can review our process to ensure we don't let anymore people in that we clearly should have caught the red flags on? will you demand democrats be held accountable for supporting the EXACT SAME THING?!?!?1

OR LET ME GUESS... "its different" when democrats demand a temporary suspension, but its wrong when a republican does?

do as I say, not as I do... the democrat motto...

The pubs are through in 2016. Their 16 years of Stalinist purges in quest of "True Americans" has finally paid off, and left them with Dominionists, Skinheads, and nuts; nobody else. The really sad fact is that it's the MODERATE Republicans who voted Trump the main candidate, as they had no other choice

Regardless of rather I approve of these Democrats who "demand a temporary suspension," a temporary suspension is noticeably different than banning all Muslim travel to the US.

    Trump campaign press release:

"Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country's representatives can figure out what is going on,"

Oh wait... Trump has already backtracking on banning all Muslims from traveling to the US.

Trump: Muslim ban 'just a suggestion'

What's next? Minimum wage? Taxing hedge fund managers? Abortion?

    Oh wait...

The issue here is not so much the specifics of Trump's blustering nativism but the desperate convolutions of his angry white base supporters as their hero begins his inevitable and cynical tack toward the political center. They were fooled by a con man who told them what they want to hear, then changed his tune when he moved on to the real customers. This happens every time; the exception is the candidate so whacko that he never makes it out of Crazytown to get on the Mainstream highway. That's the difference between David Duke and Pat Buchanan. They are all losers and they all lose in the end. That's why the Bible bangers, the gun nuts and the "white nationalists" spend their lives trooping from one faux messiah to the next without ever going anywhere. Time to take the tea bags off your hats, boys, it's over.

HE'S SAID THAT ALL ALONG... HE'S SAID THAT FOR MONTHS... its other who editorialized his comments to suggest it was a permanent ban... all because they wanted to score political points... he's said nothing the democrats have not said... in fact the democrats went on record VOTING for the suspension and review process...

The part you guys don't grasp is no one really expects half the stuff he says to ever come to fruition. The reason he is popular is because he is the only one even saying he is going to do anything about illegals, the economy, bringing jobs back, and muslim terrorism. Your waste of 8 years pick cant even muster the courage to say muslim terrorists. The twice Obama voter has no business criticizing anyone elses pick for President. You could blow up a balloon and draw a face on it with a marker, stick it on the oval office desk, and it would still have been a better president than Obama. Obama is going to be recorded as the single best example of a failed President in our entire history. To put it in perspective, this weeks epic failure is, he is blackmailing every school and state in our nation. The guy should be in jail. He is currently in violation of the supreme court on this matter. The President is not allowed to use federal funds to strong-arm states. Its not his money, its our money.

You guys blame us for Trump, when in reality, the real reason Trump is where he is today is BECAUSE OF YOU GUYS. You picked the most vile human being possible for President .....TWICE.....and now the country is upchucking that meal. You guys put Trump in the white house, not us. Like I predicted, we got Reagan because of Carter, and because of Obama we get Trump.

You over-reacted to his original suggestions, I'll give you that. Sensible folks all knew he was never going to ban all Muslims from entering the country.

Idiotic post. Candidates tell people their personal positions on issues. The truth is once elected to office, their duty is to represent their constituent's will, even if their will is in opposition to the elected officials personal position.
If an elected official proposes a position the majority of his constituents do not agree with then he needs to modify that position unless that modification imposes upon the rights of the individual.

Clearly, it's because he already has the frothing-at-the-mouth vote locked up.

Now, it's time to go for the corporate sponsorships.

OK we will expect morons to vote for HC?

When the twin towers were attacked, instead of initiating a war we should have revoked all the Visas of those from middle east areas associated with the Taliban.

So instead of blocking immigration of Muslims perhaps we should block those people from countries the radicals and terrorist come from, regardless of their religion, better?

"I will build a wall..." is a statement of intent, not a suggestion. Unless, of course, English isn't your first language. Likewise there is nothing 'suggested' here: https://www.donaldjtrump.com/press-...mp-statement-on-preventing-muslim-immigration
A more overt statement of intent you'd be hard-pressed to find.

The Taliban (Afghans) had nothing to do with the 9-11 tragedy. That was your buddies, the Saudi Arabians (whom Bush adored so much he arranged for the entire Bin Laden family elite to fly off when all other flights were grounded). http://news.sky.com/story/209876/bin-laden-family-evacuated-from-us
Unsurprisingly relations with Saudi Arabia haven't been affected in the least-and then you went and invaded the wrong country. Genius.

So since we have a documented "American terrorist" we need to block Americans from America? And then there are the radicals in England, France, etc.

Nah, we are no dummies, Trump is winning all social and religious groups, all income and education levels for a reason. Trump is not perfect and we all have some reservations.

The alternative on the other hand is infinitely worse - a corrupt corporate lackey hiding her $200,000/hr Wall Street transcripts which were nothing but a legalized bribe....The list of her accomplishments is vast - she helped to send millions of jobs overseas, she help to send our troops to Iraq, she has racked up $20 trillion in debt, the 1% has been getting wealthy beyond their wildest dreams and the middle class has been rapidly disappearing on her watch...

Lest we forget Libya, Benghazi, the email scandal...Lest we forget her flip flops on Healthcare, on Iraq, on free trade, on the free trade deal that she wrote and she now doesn't support.

Sorry dude, with all his shortcomings and with all our reservations Trump is an America-first patriot and a successful businessman who has correctly identified the country's problems and she is just a corrupt incompetent power-hungry corporate sellout who has long overstayed her welcome

Virtually everything Mr. Trump says is either exaggeration or simply a lie. This is easily verified if one decides to do so....the problem is that his Trumphumper legion does not do so and likely never will. It is only a matter of time before his wall is turned into a fence and he was only married once for 40 years to the same woman.
