Don't we hear this same story every Olympics? Seems like each time there are stories of how screwed up everything is going to be. "It won't be finished in time" "Transportation is all fouled up" "Some venues are not good enough" "High crime in the area is a danger" "It costs too much" "They didn't spend enough money" "It's become too commercial" "They spent too much money" "They spent money in the wrong place" Etc Etc Etc
You mean like the Olympics in London...which cost more than $14,000,000,000--40% more than planned? Or the 2004 Olympics that basically bankrupted Greece, with most of the venues built for it abandoned and rotting? The 1998 Nagano Olympics that were so expensive, the man in charge ordered all accounting documents burned? The Olympics are a boondoggle and should have been euthanized years ago.

I love the Olympics. I love the idea of the Olympics. It's time for a break and reflections on the reason for the games. It would or should not be a problem to take a ten year break from the games. In this time we need to decide if the games ought to return to a more simpler structure, i.e. only amateurs, limited events, men v men and women v women according to one's DNA, and no drugs of any kind. If you need to be on drugs, to include aspirin, then you should not be competing.
