Republicans were offered a seat at the ACA table but refused to participate. That was all on them, not the Dems.
Too bad the facts prove otherwise. Universal healthcare works just fine in the rest of the nations of the civilized world.
well they did a little, they gave us the individual mandate "Obama, GOP's Snowe work on health care compromise" http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/09/02/health.care.compromise/ "The compromise plan would lack a government-run public health insurance option favored by Obama, but would leave the door open to adding that provision down the road under an idea proposed by Snowe, the sources said." I do think republicans will want to work with dems this time round, cause if they do it themselves, then all high healthcare costs in future will be blamed on them .
The left's reaction to Trump's election is how Trump was able to win in the first place. Can't the Democrats see that? Most of us (regardless of party affiliation or lack thereof) are sick of the hate, the race baiting, and the divisiveness. It's like Obama's hatefulness has tainted the Democrat Party to the point where I can't even recognize it anymore - and I'm an independent who has voted for Democrat candidates in the past, including Obama in 2008. The Democrats really need to get their act together, and quit being the party of hate. Our country needs to heal and move forward, all of us together. Every American should condemn the protesting and rioting.
Nobody, I repeat, nobody is to blame for the ACA, but the Democrats. They created the law, voted on it and implemented it. It's their baby. - - - Updated - - - This is a lie.
I said liberals, not democrats. You are correct because it is the conservative wing of the democratic party that killed the public option. The only good solutions for healthcare simply have not been feasible in American politics, and my main gripe with the ACA is that it has made it even less politically feasible in the future.
You know, I'm a lifelong Dem and I had to vote for a third party this election. Hillary was an awful choice and Trump just ran a ridiculous campaign. But these millennials protesting, and make no mistake it's about 90% or more millennials, have no idea what they are talking about and no idea how life works. Simply put, this is the most ignorant social movement I have seen in this country and these protests disrespect and insult all social and political movements in this nation prior. CNN was polling the protestors. The MAJORITY of protestors didn't vote. They didn't vote at all. I'm fine with not voting if you choose. But if you choose not to vote, how could you justify protesting the result of that free and fair election? Others are yelling "Trump is a fascist" and "Remove Trump". Ok, so you want to forcefully remove a freely and fairly elected President and you call him a fascist? This anti-President Trump movement is the most fascist thing I have seen in years. Probably the most fascist movement I have seen in years. Then others are saying remove him because he only won the college and Hillary won the popular vote...... Seriously? just like that? Our laws dictate that we use an electoral college to decide the President. The Popular vote doesn't matter and it SHOULDN"T matter until legislation changes the FACT that we use an electoral college. These again are the most uneducated and ignorant protestors..... EVER...... Then saying he should be impeached or removed because he's a "sexist" and a "racist"? Lol lol Firstly, there is no proof that he is a racist. He certainly pandered to racists and everyone else on the right in order to get elected. That does not make him a racist though. It makes him a smart politician. Now, he probably is a sexist. I think there is little doubt about that. But no President or elected official should ever be "removed" simply because of their personal views and life choices. If those choices get in the way of free and fair policy making and running a free and fair government, then that is different. However, very many Presidents all the way down the line, from Washington, to Jefferson to Grant to Kennedy to Nixon to Clinton , were either racist or sexist or both. Yet it did not always directly influence their political choices nor did it make them bad Commanders in Chiefs. Kennedy and Clinton were clearly sexist, yet they are two of the most popular liberal Presidents in history. They were also 2 of the most popular Presidents with woman, minorities and liberals as a whole. The only difference, regarding sexism, between Trump and Kennedy and Clinton is that Trump is a rich republican and the latter two were rich democrats. Being a sexist has never automatically turned a President into a bad President before, there is no reason why it should now. Similary with racism. However, racism can certainly influence policy in a negative way. That's if you actually believe Trump is a racist. Like many other politicians in the past, Trump pandered to his voting base.and a bit outside of it as well. Unfortunately, a large portion of Trumps voter base, the Republican base, are white male and have some racist tendencies. But just because some guy in the KKK might have voted for Trump, does that make Trump a racist? Does that somehow make him responsible for racism? No more than any other American. If you begin to see Racism and racist ideas actually showing up in Trumps actual policies and during his actual Presidency, then perhaps you should go protest. But trying to construe everything he said during his campaign as racist and proposing that he will be the same during his Presidency is just an ignorant way of explaining things. Again, I don't think Trump is actually racist, nor do I think he needs to follow through with his campaign proposals just to satisfy some fringe racist nut jobs. Further, even if Trump is a racist, what sort of racist policy do you think would actually pass both houses ? Really? Again, this is by far the most IGNORANT set of protests that have ever taken place in this country. These protestors seemingly have no idea how our government works, how life works and I don't think they really understand the difference between racism and being a racist, or sexism and being a sexist. Really, it seems as though racism and sexism are being used as blanket rationalizations for why these people are protesting. Because in reality they have no legal goal or plan. They are just frustrated and having an outburst. And in doing so they are being the fascists, they are being the hatemongers and they are being the ignorant. Way to take the high ground. I don't think they understand that campaign rhetoric does not dictate Presidential action. It's really sickening. It's horrific to cause such senseless divisiveness at a time when the entire country should be supporting the result and choice of a free and fair election, even if you disagree with the individuals involved. MSNBC is partly to blame. Just as Fox was partly to blame for what went on in the G.W. Bush years. MSNBC and the like (not CNN as much) are stoking the flames of these protests and validating them when they are in essence insubstantial and without validity. They are empty protests and they are weakening the voice and argument of any rational argument against Trump. This is a day I am embarrassed to be a liberal, embarrassed to be a democrat and embarrassed to possibly get lumped in with these ignorant troglodytes for being socially active. ##Notmyprotest#notmyliberals#accepttheresult#theseprotestorsarefascistpigs
Yeah, that silly old Constitution with its ridiculous right to assemble, and its right to free political speech. That'll be the first thing our new Overlord Putin gets rid of.
Lol nothing wrong with assembling or protesting. But it's kind of counterproductive and meaningless when the basis of your protest is ignorance and your goals are none. It makes it even more discouraging when you find out the protestors don't even understand the system they are protesting nor do they understand what has actually occurred this past year and with this election. So they have every right to stand out there and look foolish and every right to sound like ignorant, frightened children. Which many of them very well might be given the average age of the protests. It's why I love our constitution, it gives everyone the right to be as silly and divisive as they want. Everyone.
You haven't heard? Russia was in direct contact with the Drumpf campaign, and continues to be. Oh, and when Drumpf begins receiving the top-secret President's Daily Brief, with all of our mostly closely-held secrets, sources and methods, Putin will be getting it too. He might as well be in the room.
Yes I did hear, and concluded that it was a proposition to join forces against global jihad? You'd prefer that that didn't happen, am I right?
In 2016 the total population of the EU states was 510 million. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_the_European_Union Universal healthcare is working just fine for 510 million people in the EU nations.
Republicans were given every opportunity to participate and Sen Snowe actually did help draft the ACA.
And it's working fine for them, because of how the EU States are structured. There isn't a single individual State that approaches the US number. Unless you're willing to accept that fact, you can't get universal health care here. The Left as always is being totally ignorant of economic realities on the ground here.
Universal healthcare already operates successfully here in the USA. It is called Medicare! All that needs to be done to make it work in all 50 states is to change the law making everyone eligible. And when it comes to ignorance as far as the economic realities are concerned it would cost far less to implement Medicare nationally than it currently does for Obamacare because there is zero profit motive to deal with as far insurance is concerned.
Yeah, honestly, Obama botched it. Expansion of Medicare would have been much more efficient. We should keep the increased age, up to 26 to stay on parents plan, and elimination of problems with pre-existing conditions.
Oh, I was being facetious - you really didn't know? Yep, we made ISIS and Al Qaeda pretty darn happy on Tuesday. When all of the experts said that BOPE (Bloated Orange President Elect) should tone down the anti-Muslim hate speech, when Obama said the BOPE was make jihadist recruiters' work easy -- well how about that, they were right. Great news, eh? http://www.slate.com/blogs/the_slatest/2016/11/09/jihadists_are_psyched_that_trump_won.html http://www.nydailynews.com/news/pol...sts-celebrate-trump-victory-article-1.2867482 http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/isis-hails-donald-trump-victory-9229674 http://theweek.com/speedreads/661365/islamist-extremists-say-hope-trump-win-sow-division http://www.salon.com/2016/11/10/isis-is-gloating-about-donald-trumps-presidential-win/ http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/...celebrate-donald-trump-election-win/93580822/
Because they have no real argument and are not smart enough to form an opinion based in real fact! Just take a walk into the crowd of protesters and start asking questions I have found they are people who cant comprehend most of what is said to them and are in most cases unable to back up their decision to protest with any facts Its most enjoyable when they think they are talking intelligently and are actually showing their ignorance instead. Sadly it would take years to teach them that understanding the facts before running off at the mouth is one of the most important things. Especially to be an effective protester because here in America most people don't respond well to Mob rule.
Too bad that didn't happen...We would not have had 8 years of misery. But hey, the Democrats have already shot their load against Trump and he prevailed. Time to give up the 60's.....Community organizing and all.....
