    Trump's budget is completely DOA.

Discussing it, in it's current form, is a waste of time.

Since, as written, it has ZERO chance of ever being implemented.

We're focusing on just the budget numbers and we're only talking about the % of total fed. budg. outlays that goes to defense. All time low.

Because the overall budget has grown, not because defense spending has had any real decrease.

What, so we're hearing from "Rare News" now? Assuming their stuff isn't worse than internet quotes from Lincoln, note that our defense spending still has to provide a shield for all countries on the list except for the 2 places w/ nuke missiles aimed at us.

And how much is spend on social, welfare programs? You should look at that before the DoD's budget. In fact well on that, how much does the Food Stamp program cost? How much as the War on "Poverty" cost Americans in the last 60 years??

Try to put aside your need for diversions.

Yes, air force personnel numbers have diminished since the Clinton years: https://www.statista.com/statistics/232348/us-air-force-personnel-numbers/

Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld had promoted reduction:
Regarding the current issue: Does it make sense to you to give $54 billion more of the American taxpayer's money to an entity that has just been found to spend $125 billion in bureaucratic waste?

How much of those cuts were due to reduction in war spending?

... and why then wanting to cut UN payments and many other things which are important for infrastructure, boost economic and so on?

Let only 1 of your 10 Nimitz class Carriers for 6 month in the harbor and you save so much money that you can finance for years the welfare programs proper!

    So true ...

If you do not have a huge force in in another country like Iraq in a war to fight, the huge necessary amount of USD which is necessary to do so can be deleted in military budget and used otherwise.

Not when we're defending the rest of the world. Don't worry, we'll make it up in NATO and UN cuts.

--and 2012 was a leap year, but most years were not leap years and were not affected by sequestration.

Look, all years showed cuts, and this year's proposed boost will not even make up for last year's cuts, much less the one before that and the one before that and......

Let's remember that the previous two presidential terms represent the first time ever in the history of the American Republic that a U.S. president has ever had troops fighting in foreign conflicts.for eight straight entire years.

    The first and only time.

--and he gets a Nobel peace prize for it.

    Ehm ... sorry, wrong:

Even they were still before involved ... First official involvement of US Forces in Vietnam was 1964! Last US soldier officially left 1973 ... makes for me about 9 years of war where at high tide were over 500,000 US Soldiers involved.
