The premiums are affordable it's the deductible and yearly out of pocket that will do them in. It's perfectly affordable as long as you don't use it.

By all accounts, the premiums are about to skyrocket, quality of care about to drop, and deductibles go through the roof. People will be paying for insurance they can't afford and will never use.

Oh, and providers have dropped down to one single company in some states, and zero in others. A disaster, as we've often heard.

And when did premiums not go up when insurance companies were/are in the mix? Single payer is what was need but the GOP would not go with the sensible approach because there would not have been the gift to insurance companies. But here is the real POS that threw the wrench into the works....

My bad, I should have said premiums WERE affordable. Folks without an Obama Care policy have no idea how vastly different it is compared to insurance policies they have from the very same company. I actually have an Obama Care "Silver" plan. I live in a Rural area with a small/medium size hospital and 3 medical groups, 1 large and 2 small. The hospital accepted my policy but the 1 large medical group that staffs the hospital doctors did NOT. That meant if I was hospitalized my policy coverages with deductible and yearly out of pocket applies to the Hospital's bill but not the Doctors who bill separately and would be out of network and covered only 30%. Since the Doctors and Facilities in the area accept Obama Care policies from just 2 providers, the networks are very important. Provider #1's insurance covered a number of doctors in my area, but if I need services like X-Ray, MRI and such I had to drive 45 miles down a mountain road one way if I didn't want to pay 70% of the bill. Provider #2's insurance coverd a number of facilities in my area so if I need services like X-Ray, MRI and such they were available locally, however if I want to see a doctor I have to drive 45 miles down a mountain road if I didn't want to pay 70% of the bill. With the Obama Care plan, I had to make a 90 mile round trip for a stinking X-Ray. Since I live in the mountains, the road to the flat lands isn't always available (snow) so if I needed an X-Ray I'm just (*)(*)(*)(*) outta luck and had to pay the 70%. AND the insurance provider raised my premium 33% as of Jan 1st 2015.

They've figured out how to ration health care without denying you service. It's called narrow networks.

They couldn't pass it because the Republican Party is not a monolith like the Democratic Party is. It does not march in lock step like the Dems do.

As an Independent, I didn't care for the bill, so I'm glad it failed.

Not true. We should look at Canada only to see what not to do when it comes to waiting for care. Taking a look at some other countries we see that wait times for the majority or less than a week.

The only shorter wait times we have in the US is for elective procedures.

I used the German healthcare system and knew Germans rather well. For non-elective procedures the norm was the same day for something serious and 2-5 days for everything else.

Something weird is going on. I just read a news report that Trump called Robert Costa, on his cell phone, to tell him Obamacare will roll on until it collapses, and he will wait for the Democrats to come make a deal with him. Google it and read the conversation. It's surreal. Trump is either crazy, or crazy like a fox. I think there is a strategy here, and if Trump is doing what I think he might be doing, we might be in for a rough ride. Or Trump is crazy. I just don't know.

    By 116%? By 50%?

I don't mind if you want to pay for health insurance you can't afford and you will never use because of deductibles, if it makes you feel fuzzy inside about poor people. I don't use it, myself.

I'm talking about the American people. This is still on Obamacare and not Trump/Ryancare.

Of course not, republicans are under no obligation to actually lead and provide the american taxpayer with viable affordable healthcare options.
Oh right, that doesn't fit on a bumpersticker so they can't sell that to the suckers.

I believe the point of at least one EO I'm aware of was to lessen the impact of it by limiting the actions the various federal bodies could take if people were avoiding buying insurance.

Actually, he was meeting with James Comey for an interagency briefing. But hey, if you want to fantasize about Trump in a big truck.... knock yourself out sweet pea.

I just gave you all anyone needs to know about who and what screwed The ACA and in turn many people, but you chose to willfully ignore it. Suit yourself and I will not waste any further time with you and your ultra-selective reading and cherry picking.

Especially after announcing how much they want to **** over low income, pre-existing and the elderly.

Methinks they'll pay a price as far too many Americans have been royally screwed by the options they offered -- like we never lived through that before

....with insurance companies denying coverage for every last tittle they could get away with, and a ****ton of consumers spending hundreds and hundreds of hours on <please wait for the next available operator> phones to get resolve, with the equivalent of an AOL "I'm sorry" at the end..and after, a 30 pages to appeal a denial for even some basic...for so called "covered services" -DENIED.

Too bad, Sucka! You thought we were actually going to pay your claim? lol

Been there. Done that . This is what they mean by you can have a "free market plan." Like we don't know their gig.

They aren't? Did 1 R vote for 1 thing put forth in the previous 8 yrs?

PS - it is worse than the ACA, it needed to fail.

And you have shown zero desire to educate yourself to the facts...as most Donald Dump fans are want to do as they parrot the birther-in-chief's his dumb-azz rhetoric. Have an interesting life.

Some sort of bloviating bullshit that his supporters will eat up. Wonder how much longer he'll be able to get away with lying and failing.
