I'll sum it up for you - ANARCHY.
Back to the good old days when hired Pinkerton agents could shoot strikers and Robber Barons were the law, eh?

You don't know what you are talking about... Artificially high entrance restrictions just means they couldn't pass the MCAT and didn't take the requisite science courses in undergrad.

You need to get over blaming the system.

Not everyone who wants to be a doctor is willing to incur $350,000 in Medical school debt or wait til they are 33 to start earning.

LOLOL.. The AMA isn't a union and most docs don't belong or pay dues.

"Some" of the DO schools are excellent with MD professors and they are less expensive than Med School. The cherry on top is that the good ones get into MD residencies and become fine physicians.. also they are more likely to practice in small towns and rural areas.

There isn't a shortage of MDs.. There is a shortage of MDs who are willing to practice without deep specialty support and without a trauma center nearby.

Some of that has been overcome by developing in-house internal medicine groups who will admit and follow a rural physician patients.. Generally with excellent results since they are there in hospital 24-7 and stay on top of test results, labs etc. It also reduces length of stay... since the patient isn't waiting for their physician to do rounds at the end of the day.

This is a straw man. I never made any such claim nor every had such a thought. I am a constitution loving, limited Gov't, Fiscal Conservative (old style before the religious right took over).

When I refer to other first world healthcare systems I refer to them as fat disgusting bloated inefficient bureaucracies.

I also talk about how various associations such as the AMA restrict entry which keeps supply low and wages high and Gov't regulations which thwart competition.

This is an oversimplification. How is doing this going to change price fixing and anti competitive practices via the various healthcare oligopolies.

26% of US physicians are Foreign Medical Graduates and they have always had a long slog to become licensed in the US. To earn the right to practice in the United States, foreign-trained doctors must pass the first two parts of the United States Medical Licensing Exam, be certified by the Educational Commission for Foreign Trained Medical Graduates, enter a residency program and pass the third licensing test. Last time I looked (and I am not longer sat the top of my game) there were 40,000 doctors from India practicing in IM specialties.

What! Shouldn't everyone have to access to affordable auto insurance? And shouldn't the government provide subsidizes to those who cannot afford it

My point is when does one say ENOUGH to the government? Federally mandated health care insurance followed by what? If never stops, there is always another feel good policy just waiting to be hatched. Look at history and how government programs grow and grow.

You don't know enough about it to even have sense enough to be embarrassed.

Getting into med school is difficult enough to limit the supply .. and "selective" is a relative term that is rendered meaningless by your usage of it.

OK ... so then you agree that this "competition will make things better" narrative being spouted by more than a few Republicans is abject nonsense ?

You need to get over blubbering about things you do not understand as if you do !

    1) Do you know what a "normal distribution" is ?
    2) Do you have any idea what the difficulty level the MCAT is set at relative to the normal distribution ?

Are you kidding me? What would give you that idea?
All this regulation has created monopolies and inflated prices obviously..

We are on the same page. What I am saying is that this talk about competition being the savior of healthcare is nonsense because the system itself is anti competitive and Red is not going to do anything to make address the monopolism.

There are various "associations" who have influence in the regulatory process. The AMA is one of them.

The states already force you to have liability coverage.

I do not really care what "peer review and highest and best standard of care" is as it has nothing to do with what I am talking about.

Are you seriously not aware that there are regulations that Govern the healthcare system ?
