Nikki Haley Stares Down Russian Ambassador

U.S. Ambassador Nikki Haley on Wednesday confronted Russia directly in an impassioned address to the United Nations following a reported chemical attack in Syria on Tuesday.

Haley gave a horrific and vivid account of the reported chemical attack, holding up photos of child victims for the U.N. Security Council to see.

"Men, women, the elderly, and children gasping for their very last breath,” she said. “And as first responders, doctors, and nurses rushed to help the victims, a second round of bombs rained down. They died in the same slow, horrendous manner as the civilians they were trying to save.”

She then stared down the Russian ambassador and said: “How many more children have to die before Russia cares?”

Seconds of silence followed.

“The United States sees yesterday’s attack as a disgrace at the highest level and assurance that humanity means nothing to the Syrian government,” Haley added.

I've always liked her and glad to see her in this position. Been a long time since the US vigorously opposed such atrocities and she's doing a good job of expressing our outrage. You go girl!

I am impressed by Haley so far. She has called out the UN on their hatred of Israel and now she is not taking crap from Russia.

 

Yep, that stare down is really going to be an effective counter measure.

US is condemning Russia while USA supplies munitions and weapons and political support to Saudi Arabia in its attacks on Yemen.

Ok so the trump administration is or is not suppose to oppose Russia I'm so confused good god you lefties want everything both ways.

 

Future POTUS or Secretary of State, no doubt. This is a truly strong philosophical woman that is representing our country with pride.

 

Seeing that the US keeps the war going by supplying the rebels and terrorists it's amazing that the Russian ambassador wimped out. Maybe Putin needs to get a replacement.

 

The sarin gas was found in the homes of suspected Syrian Islamic radicals in 2013 and some 12 suspected members of the al-Nusra Front were arrested. It's assumed that al-Qaeda in Iraq produced the sarin gas and then shipped it to the al-Nusra Front for use in Syria. The target area has been a stronghold of the al-Nusra Front which possessed chemical weapons in the past. Seymour Hersh's story from December 2013 said that the rebel group responsible for the sarin gas attack was the al-Nusra Front, an affiliate of al-Qaeda.

For good or bad, Nikki Haley has an agenda. I don't think she is so dumb or misinformed to believe that Assad would would gas a bunch of random civilians. How would that benefit Assad? How would it benefit Russia? I believe this was done by a third party.

 

Nikki Haley is just about the only member of the Trump regime that isn't incompetent, corrupt, or both.
She is not an embarrassment like the rest of the regime.
I think the all-time worst face of America in the UN was Captain Kangaroo Bolton.

Better yet, she can take over Trump's job. She seems to be the sort of person all Americans can stand behind. Why oh why doesn't she or someone like her run for the nation's top office? Sad.

She had done a better job that I expected her to do. I did approve of her as UN Ambassador. She seems to be one of the few on the Trump team right now that isn't either a crook, a toady or a clown.

 

Trump has recruited a bunch of clowns. What she is engaging in is theatrics to thrill the plebians, like TomFitz, Texas Republican and their ilk.

All serious discussions are done outside the Security Council meeting room. The publicly televised sessions are theatrics.

i'd say atleast those that survived but got hurt by the gas may recover, how do you recover when your legs or arms have been blown off

obviously i dont think killing with gas is ok, but people need to put it in perspective, and i think both the timing is suspicious (days after the us says removing assad is no longer a prio) and the attack itself is overblown excuse compared to what the US & co themself did/do

 

who knows perhaps she is a candidate in the future after trump finished his terms. probably would be a far better female candidate then clinton ever was
