BLU-82 (Daisy cutter) is not GBU-43 (MOAB). This goes beyond simply being a larger ordinance, but in function. Its like saying that the 32" console tv you had in 1974 is the same thing as your 55" OLED flatscreen. The daisy cutter is a vietnam era weapon. The MOAB is different in a number of ways... including larger ordinance.

I've no idea of what this exercise cost in terms of construction of the device and its delivery, but seeing as only a handful of jihadists might (or might not? Who would know!) have been wasted, I hope it was worth the capital expenditure!

 

At the rate Trump is wasting money on his wars he will spend $100 Trillion in four years. We could have dropped a hundred thermobaric bombs of the area for a fraction of the cost of the MOAB.

I presume that you did not know that ISIS was fighting against the Taliban and losing while killing each other until the US begin heavily bombing them last year resulting in a truce and then an alliance between those two groups to attack the US together. Your "understanding" is wrong uninformed. I have been volunteering at THE VA hospital since I retired from my civilian job. I am someone who prior to volunteering last set foot in a VA hospital after Vietnam and I swore back then that I would never set foot alive in a VA hospital.
There are problems indeed. The problems with the VA did not start with the Obamska administration they were there back under Nixon or even LBJ and Saint Ronnie Reagan.

One of the stupid policies of the VA was the bonus program which was an attempt to act as a private business and stimulate efficiency. What it did was set up a system for corruption and what we saw is the crap administrators pulled of lying about wait times.

I have the utmost respect for most of the staff especially the medical staff. Where I volunteer I see our staff who have given up their lunch time for confused WWII vets who show up on the wrong day or time. I have seen the younger Docs do small but important extra tasks for a Vet out if respect. These are those mundane tasks that I am there to do. I see our Medical Rehab staff bend but not break rules or laws to get things done for Vets that VA administrations yes I said ADMINISTRATIONS plural have been failing over the years.

I have seen your posts over time and I see that you are seem hung up on hatred and crap throwing onto Obama. I am not a great supporter of his but the problems with the VA preceded BO by a long time. His administration failed to correct those problems that us true. What iscalso true is that Bush, Clinton, Bush, Reagan, Ford, Carter, Nixon, LBJ, and JFK also failed. Time to but thus partisan crap load away and solve our problems for Americans but living on hatred for the other party be it Republicans or Democrats is not the way to help veterans or Americans in general.

Trump rolls it out now primarily to try to scare the hell out of North Korea, I guess, but I doubt it's going to have the desired effect.

It certainly won't 'scare' China or Russia. In fact, Russia began testing their FOAB ("Father-of-all-bombs") over seven years ago, and it's evidently much larger now.

I have a splendid idea! Why don't we and the Russians have a CONTEST to see whose thermobaric weapon is more powerful -- the "MOAB", or the "FOAB". We could each drop several of them on North Korea, comparing the results after each detonation.

That would serve several useful purposes, obviously. We could have a good-spirited, sportsman-like contest followed by drinking, feasting, and whoring afterwards, and, we could get rid of the North Korean 'pustule' and his "threat".... One big bomb does not differ in its impact from the cumulative destructive power of a number of smaller ones.

It represents a continuation of the Dubya and Obama policy with a desire to grab headlines.

When the "big one" was deployed to Afghanistan under the Obama regime six moths ago, it was inevitable it would be dropped eventually. You never find one of these at the military surplus auctions to wow the kids on July 4.

 

Then the Veteran's Admin should be revamp allowing veterans to see private doctors and hospitals. That would stop a lot of the problems.

The VA has had problems since the 1970s.. and its expensive, but not Obama's doing. Bush cut benefits for concussive type head injuries..

 

1. The entire budget for the VA should immediately be diverted directly to veterans to start HSA's.

2. The real estate held by the VA should be sold and the proceeds put into the vested HSA's created for veterans.

3. The VA officials who withheld life saving healthcare from veterans for bounty money should be investigated by local and or federal grand juries for numerous felonies including murder in those cases where the victims died as a result of the denial of care.
