WTF is going on here? https://news.vice.com/story/texas-has-a-10b-rainy-day-fund-but-wont-use-it-for-harvey-relief
good example of what i was saying last week when stating i refuse to donate money to a state that doesn't care about its own citizens over a dollar bill
On that note, why do we give welfare to people that can obviously work but don't? Can I refuse to give them money too? At least the people of Texas get to vote on that one, I don't get any say in the 40-50% of my wealth taken from me
Actually the people of Texas only get to vote on the people who get to vote on it. If you want to know why we give money to people who could work but don't, you will need to get a ouija board and ask that Texan Lyndon Baynes Johnson. My guess is it had more to do with elections than empathy.
Considering the name itself is "Rainy Day Fund" this is basically just a hit job trying to politcally attack Texas. Rainy Day funds are meant to reassure bondholders that there's money to pay back any bonds the state issues. It is not literally for rain/hurricanes.
Uh, yeah exactly. They vote for specific people based on those peoples' specific views, are you unaware of how our elections work? As to my question it was obviously rhetorical
You might notice in the report he didn't say he WOULDN'T use it, he said he didn't think he'd NEED to use it.
your posts might be honest "But Texas Gov. Greg Abbott says he won’t need to dip into the state’s $10 billion fund"
Actually I donated to a new jersey no-kill going to save puppies and kitties, so I didn't even donate to a person. Maybe for Irma since she is coming my way.
It is just the lesser of two evil-doers if it is a Texas election. Your state hasn't had a decent politician since Barbara Jordan went to her heavenly reward.
They should secede as they always promise to do and use their own ****ing money. "You're not building that Texas". Your mooching off of the blue states you climate science deniers.
Texas should lower taxes even more so that we don't have so big of a rainy day fund. It would have killed this thread and I would have had lower taxes.
