Unlike the President, most Americans know NFL kneelers aren't protesting the flag

It's true enough that we don't know the long term. But I've said this elsewhere: When you get a bunch of people who by their own admission have invested emotionally into something (the NFL in this case) now NOT watching it, they're gonna find something else to do - find another sport to watch, play online games, heck they could even take up bowling, tiddlywinks, scrapbooking or gardening for all we know. Before you know it, they're now emotionally invested in something else, and the NFL becomes a distant memory while the memorabilia they've bought either gathers dust in the garage or gets sold on the cheap on eBay. I think you underestimate the damage the NFL is continually doing to their own bottom line.

I would have respected Kaepernich a lot more if he stood and covered his heart during the anthem, and, when it was over, took a knee for a minute to draw attention to his cause.

You see, the flag and anthem does represent our freedoms. But even more than that, to me, it represents the Americans who sacrificed everything for those freedoms. They gave them to us with their blood and their lives and their courage. And I just can't believe that it is too much to ask that, during the anthem and flag raising, that we stand in respect and a bit of humility - remembering them. Every time I see our flag waving in the breeze, I am reminded of them.

And I don't think it's a good time to draw attention to anyone's cause. I would not approve of someone taking a "counter-knee" to show support for the police. For me - and I think I speak for a lot of Americans - it's just the wrong time, wrong place.

You ever stop to wonder what it would be like to walk along side one of them? Imagine walking through a crowded mall with them pointing out a racist every seven seconds.

    What a life!

Funny thing about symbolic objects, no American has the right to assign meaning for another. It’s nice that you feel the way you do about the flag, and fwiw I don’t think Kaps actions necessarily preclude him from the same sentiments. But, you have no expectation that another man should hold the same regards.
Ya know, if you don’t derive entertainment value from the nfl then fine. You wouldn’t be the first to try to score political points via target of convenience. However if you did enjoy the game and are now boycotting on principle, I hate to break it to you, but the joke is on you.

    Well said.

Besides, burning the flag is protected speech and expecting people to stand for the anthem (in an America helmed by an UNPREPARED, RACIST, MISOGYNIST, IMBECILE (Trump)) is a completely misguided sentiment.

I enjoyed the game a lot more when I was a boy and a young man. Now, as a father and a grandfather, I just see young men shortening their lives and hurting each other for a big wad of money. For the past 20 years or so, I've watched the Super Bowl and almost no regular season games.

I just don't understand why so many continue to not get it. Maybe you can explain it to me?

I honestly don't care what they pretend to believe they're protesting.

I'm not going to put up with their show of disdain for our country. Regardless of their doublespeak, that is what their actions show.

I've already lost interest in sports due to the injection of leftist propaganda these past few years. NO POLITICS IN SPORTS.

You don't have to understand why I don't hate my country, I just ask that you realize that I never will.

The flag and the anthem have nothing to do with who the president is. I detested Hillary Clinton, but if she had been elected as I expected her to be, I would have never shown disrespect to our anthem, our flag, or the country they represent. Never.

Clearly not racism when your company is pursued by the DOJ for implementing a systemic policy of not allowing minorities to live there. Why? Because he settled that case without admitting fault.

    Solid logic.

Why would a rational person stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color? The flag represents centuries of such oppression.

Since you're an expert on logic I'm still waiting to hear how -

    - you quoting someone saying that a Black man should protest "on their own time" got twisted into you saying he said "NEVER" on their own time. Please inform us what solid logic you used there. Thank you.

The racist national anthem represents slavery and oppression because it boasts about killing slaves who dared to fight for their freedom from the slavers, like the creep who wrote the Star Spangled Banner.

    Good luck with that.
NFL is registered as "entertainment", not as a "sport".
The players have no "right to kneel during the anthem".
Them standing before the anthem is no different than watching the Rockettes dance.
The NFL paid street kids millions of dollars to insult America.
    Awesome.

    **** football.

ESPN and the NFL did not show the flag ceremony before the games this week including Sunday and Monday night

So the black players have at least succeeded in taking away an honored football tradition with their lies and stupidity

    Shame on them

But I have turned off the NFL for good and will not be watching in the future

A majority of Americans think the NFL players are in the wrong.

    http://www.cnn.com/2017/09/29/politics/national-anthem-nfl-cnn-poll/index.html
Overall, 49% say the protesting players are doing the wrong thing to express their political opinion when they kneel during the National Anthem, while 43% say it's the right thing.

I had no idea that nationality indicated race. Sounds like you are projecting your own racism here.

“When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.”

I am missing the race in this statement. Are you just assuming due to your own bias that Trump is implicating all Hispanics with this statement? Once again, you look like the racist.

You mean the judge that openly supports La Raza? His usage of the term "Mexican Heritage" was inappropriate, but I believe he was correct in being suspicious of judicial bias with this judge. Judges should not get political.

How is this racism? Trump merely indicated that those that practice the Muslim religion have an absolutely terrible record as far as women's rights. If you disagree, then, I need to see some proof.

ROFL, how many times does he have to dispel this nonsense.

Bloomberg’s John Heilemann: “How do you feel about the David Duke quasi-endorsement?”

    Trump: “I don’t need his endorsement; I certainly wouldn’t want his endorsement. I don’t need anyone’s endorsement.”

Heilemann: “Would you repudiate David Duke?”

Trump: “Sure, I would do that, if it made you feel better. I don’t know anything about him. Somebody told me yesterday, whoever he is, he did endorse me. Actually I don’t think it was an endorsement. He said I was absolutely the best of all of the candidates.”

Sure, he said we needed a temporary ban until we knew who we were letting in. I disagree with the notion of banning all Muslims, but I definitely agree with profiling those that have proven to be the greatest danger. The ban he put forth is a ban of specific countries which we cannot vet. The travel restrictions on the books is in no way racist.

I believe these men have been smeared. It is impossible to discuss race in any scientific or fact based way without being labeled a racist. Hell, racist posting to a website associated with Bannon gets him labeled a racist. Steve Miller, lol, really? <Mod Edit- Rule 2> blinded by the race bully tactics that <Mod Edit- Rule 2> used for so long, that when someone refuses to kneel to the ignorance, <Mod Edit-Rule 2> label them racist. What a joke.

Guess what, there were some very fine people that did not want the statue taken down. I know it's a shock to you, but you need to get over that fact. There were also some very terrible folks on both sides. Universally, the white supremacist were opposed by 99.9% of the population, yet the fascist anti-free speech folks were supported by the authoritarian left-wing. Trump was dead on with his Charlottesville statements, but <Mod Edit- Rule 2> PC bullies wouldn't hear a President universally calling out violence regardless of affiliation.

I'm not sure if Trump is a white supremacist or not, but that meme is pretty interesting.

    49% isn't a majority. It's a plurality.

I'm actually surprised it isn't higher than 49%. I think most people would think it's better to stand for the anthem.

In 2016, during the Obama era, the exact same thing was happening.

    Think about that.

Change the year and the name and it’s also true(2017 to 2016 and Trump to Obama).
