Unlike the President, most Americans know NFL kneelers aren't protesting the flag

See, that's the thing with symbolic gestures: the only people allowed to give meaning to those actions are the people enacting them. Not trump and not you. We can all disagree on the "cause". I know I do.

However, these men are entertainers. Period. I'll never be able to sweep pick 5000 notes per second, I can't write or sing, and I'll never be able to outrun a professional defensive back. I enjoy listening to and watching those that were lucky enough (and dedicated enough) to hone their skills to such a high level though. I'll continue to ignore their protests and political rants so long as they keep producing what I like to see and hear. Life is so much nicer when you don't let the petty things piss you off.

Your opinion on the specifics of how they should protest is noted, but ultimately not relevant. They made a choice of how they would protest because of a number of factors - visibility, lack of disruption, etc. - but it was not to send the message that Trump claims is their message. If you want to listen to their reasoning, then listen to them and them alone.

This American doesn't care about how this is being spun. It's happening specifically during the Anthem, where it can only be seen as a message pertaining to said Country/Flag/Anthem...and it's a turn off. I won't be a part of the viewership until this stuff stops.

Timing is everything and they timed it to foster outrage and to demonstrate their disdain for any symbol of patriotism and love for this country. They would be just as visible at any time during the game so it isn't about maximum visibility. It's about maximum outrage and it's working.

 

Come on, they made that choice because it was convenient to them.

It takes absolutely zero effort or time or money to kneel during the anthem, and it's a nice solid middle finger to America. That's why they did it. It's easy and effective.

Now, solving the problem of black dudes getting shot by cops would take a lot of time, money and effort and they sure as hell arnt doing that.

Just as everyone knows you're supposed to stand for the anthem to show respect. So kneeling for the anthem is the opposite of that and thus disrespect.
