I do not find it funny. In USA 1999 to 2015, 533,000 people died from guns -- 313,000 by suicide, and 199,000 by homicide. Very sad.

Well I've never seen a gun get up and go shoot somebody. People kill people not guns. Cars kill people. Knives kill, and bombs kill. No guns they just use explosives. If there is a will they will find a way. Even pressure cookers kill people. Many people are saved by guns too where are those statistics?
Well, actually, bullets kill people. They pull bullets out of your chest, not fingers or bad words. I have always been pro gun. I started shooting around age 5. The problem I see is that a lot of the pro gun people have turned guns into a fetish. They act like freaking animals. They are mesmerized with the ability to kill. Sometimes I wonder if these guys are having sex with their gun barrels.
Car's primary function is transportation. But motorcycles like guns are responsible for tens of thousands excess deaths.
I don't think it is fair to count the suicides. I thought long and hard and decided on a gun but only after considering a number of other options. How I did it was more a matter of semantics. I could have just as easily drove into a wall at 120 mph. In fact, helium asphyxiation probably would have been my next choice.

Horrible thoughts and scenarios. Maybe half of people who have committed suicide by firearm would have been alive today. That is still 150,000 lives for USA 1999-2015.
There is no way anyone could know that. I know that what stopped me was the thought of having sex with hot young women. But I'm not sure how to implement that solution: Free escorts for highly depressed men? LOL! But I'm not kidding. That is what stopped me. That was worth living for. If guns weren't around it would be something else. You don't get to that point on a whim. I planned my suicide for months. In this sense we have a suicide problem, not a gun problem. That is the point everyone is ignoring. And I have a pretty good idea of why many occur. The largest demographic is middle-age men, with male suicide rates being up to ten times more than for women.
The really funny thing is that everyone is concerned about gun deaths. But when it turns out that 2/3 of those are suicides, and largely middle-age men, no one gives a damn. Funny huh. Making this a "gun issue" is just avoidance of the real problem. Many men are so miserable they would rather be dead. If people didn't want to die, it wouldn't matter if they have a gun.

I myself never thought of suicide. The prospects of millennia of enormous suffering scares me. I am Jewish -- I do not believe in eternal punishment. The thought of death scares me terribly.
At least obvious implements of suicide should be banned -- like guns and motorcycles. Many dangerous drugs are banned already -- sadly opium causes tens of thousands of deaths.
