This is sad because now we are revisiting stuff I learned in grade school. its okay to wish to deny homosexuals rights. But once you open up your mouth and formulate an argument ,there begins another with those who formulate an opposing them. The wish does nothing, but free speech about political and legal issues guarantees arguments. The Op may have a very powerful and potent argument, much better, sounder and more popular than Moore's.

When you offer a public argument to reduce the rights of a specific class of citizens, you take quite a risk if they are not seen as a substandard or compromised class by the vast majority.

 

No. An invitation reads "Please come to our city. We would love your company and will welcome and protect you from federal law." This statement does not promise to protect anyone and it does not invite them. it does not become an invitation because some folks may interpret it as one. Statements of policy and law often have consequences with public access and one of them is that they will be misread, misunderstood or misapplied by some of those that read those policies and that those who do so will occasionally rely on that misreading and act stupidly. Plenty of illegals will be caught and prosecuted in sanctuary cities without the local governments doing anything to protect them.
