Well I can't predict the future, so I'll just go with whats happening now.

Don't like it? Enshrine NN as a Law. Take it out of the changing hands of the FCC entirely.

break up the media from the ISP, then competition will work, otherwise cable companies will restrict media content to protect their media portion of the company

also a government pipe to the home woudl help competition, any company could then use it

the government helped fund cable companies laying their wires, that comes with restriction, just like ma bell had to end up sharing when they abused their monopoly

It is a problem if ISPs get a chance to shake down content providers and control the delivery of services. The ISPs are already bundling some services on their cable platforms where interaction isn't necessary (like with Facebook and Twitter).
Right now is the ISP's last chance to become more than pipes. In five years, we're going to be looking at gigabit speeds and in a few years and only be concerned about the cost of content itself.
The right may be just as interested in censorship because of terrorism.

Yet it is the left constantly pushing to limit free speech as the past left wing FCC members have demonstrated.

Companies can use it now I can get Mediacom or Uverse over land line. I can get Dish TV and a host of other wireless services over the air. I can get Digital TV with an antenna with almost 40 channels.

Why don't we break up the broadcast TV stations from their content production or providers, they can only broadcast the signal? Radio stations can no longer decide what the content will be.

I think the history of when government tries to control something speaks for itself. How well did they roll out Obamacare and look what a mess it is.

lol, are you saying most conservative news is fake, most of the fake news they block is Russian news or that which is obviously fake

personally I would prefer they just stamp it fake news, but still allow it

maybe a red, green or yellow bar to notify the user

not hardly, though the right is the king of alternative facts

when either side blocks something truthful, trust me, we will hear about it, as it will make news big time - the best thing that could happen is for truth to get blocked as then everyone knows about it

If it wasn't for the ability to tell lies, practically all on the left wouldn't be able to tell anyone anything.

wow, you really are a cable company defender.. why do you think they should be allowed to slow down their competition when you have already paid for service

why should I pay for 100\20 and then have the cable company go, well, you get that speed for all sites but sites that compete with us?

Don't be absurd. I use a VPN to get around snooping ISPs.

Well, you and the other ones who voted for a scumbag like trump have only yourselves to blame. This is the dark side of deregulation and you voted directly against your own interests. Well done.

And you voted directly against your interests if you think an open and fair internet is important.

The issue I have with that view is that it basically says that the 'Govt' is some nebulous single-organism that only has one view and one goal. It's not. Lots of different people make lots of different decisions. Not all of them good/bad.

That said, I don't see this as an issue of 'govt control' per-say. I see it as the Govt playing referee (which IMO is the entire point of a Govt) and basically saying that the ISPs have to provide a level playing field to all participant, as the Internet was originally intended to be.

So you are just trying to troll at this point?

You've admitted that you bum your wifi off paying customers and when faced with the reality that there are companies and people who can not simply rely on free wifi, you respond with this weak ****?

Title II is only more central control of the internet. What is open and fair when the internet was doing just fine before 2015? Why are the big internet corporations like Google and Facebook for Title II? Simple, it protects their monopoly over innovation and startups.

fyi, the free market will not prevent the nickel and dime of customers, banks and airlines already do it.
