    I didn't think so.
The hollow sounding exaggerated saber rattling is a dead giveaway.

Your version of reality is far removed from actuality, it refuses to accept or deal with the true underlying causes of crime, because the simplistic approach is to blame guns, and not the criminals actually committing the crimes.

    Can you be more specific?

Define "open rebellion". If someone simply refuses to follow the law, or is attacked by federal forces, is that always "open rebellion"? Were the Weaver's in open rebellion against the US government when they declared war on them?

Well, I guess we'll find out which of us is right depending upon how events unfold over the next few years.

I say you don't have a clue of what you're talking about, and you're going to be in for a great, big, ugly surprise. Yeah, yeah, you don't care what I think. Got it.

No, under appropriate circumstances it's called revolution.

Yeah right. Well, I know a lot of law enforcement, veterans, and active duty military personnel who would laugh in your face when it comes to that particular subject. That's enough substantiation for me.

A great deal actually. The actions of law enforcement in this case are, supposedly, backed up by legal precedent, and no court has ruled otherwise. Yet the public is outraged, and law enforcement is backing off due to public pressure, despite it having no legally binding authority. Pray tell why is that, is public opposition amounts to nothing at all?

Why would it not? Politicians would have to confront the fact that they can be reached by those who violently disagree with the policies they select, and apparently have no qualms with doing such. If such a development occurred in full view of everyone on national television, every elected official would have to regard the possibility that what happened to the first may well happen to them as well if they support the same policies.

you can't own a nuke, or an RPG. You can't carry any firearm you want in public. You can't carry firearms of any kind in certain places. Certain people are prohibited from owing/possessing/purchasing firearms.

taking up arms against a legal government.
No, if they take up arms against the government, for refusing to obey a law.
I'm not familiar with the Weavers?

    lol, ok

killing someone in a manner that is not self defense, is murder.

And I know just as many who would laugh at yours. That's the problem with anecdotes.

This has nothing to do with my post. A LEO agency voluntarily deciding to do something is irrelevant.

It would simply mean that LEO will come down that much harsher on those attempting such.

A law enforcement agency opting to not enforce what is apparently the law, due primarily to a lack of public support, is not relevant to the discussion? Pray tell how is that?

And yet the claim cannot be demonstrated by yourself as being factually correct.

    LEO = Law Enforcement Officer
LE = Law Enforcement (Agency )
Law Enforcement Agencies make very few decisions, legislation is passed on those matters and enforcement is mandatory abd instructions on specifics is given to LEOs in briefings by Brass / Supervisors.

When the government ignores the Constitution and tramples upon it, it ceases to be a legal government.

And if a government imposes an unconstitutional law that attacks my right to life then I have the right to defend myself against the agents of that government.

The Weavers were a family unfortunate enough to possess politically incorrect and unpopular views. The mother and son were murdered by government agents; the son shot in the back and the mother shot by a sniper while she was cradling a deadly assault baby in her arms.

because it has nothing to do with the discussion.

LEO have put down every single civil insurrection to date. Why do you think they would suddenly allow open rebellion in their jurisdiction? lol

You don't have the authority to make that determination. The courts do.

You have a right to self defense, yes. No law has been implemented that attacks your right to life.

Do you have a link to this story?

If you want to continue to be purposefully obtuse, that's not my problem. Again, when the courts choose to betray their oaths to the Constitution in favor of supporting assaults against the rights of the people they cease to have any legitimacy and it becomes the duty of the people to act accordingly.

I would disagree with that, but we have not as yet reached my personal "line in the sand". If that changes in the future I will act accordingly.

Are you kidding me? Are you seriously telling me you know nothing about the Ruby Ridge incident?

    http://www.pennlive.com/midstate/index.ssf/2012/08/ruby_ridge_20_years_later.html

    http://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/incident-at-ruby-ridge

Randy Weaver was a White Separatist (not a Supremacist) who chose to move his family into the mountains of Idaho to escape from what he saw as a corrupt society. He let a friend take him to a couple of meetings with a racist group, but he did not approve of their views and did not return. That did not stop the government from having an undercover agent befriend him and then beg him to modify a shotgun to just under the legal limit (by a quarter of an inch) and they promptly threatened him with arrest if he didn't agree to act as an undercover informant against the racist group he'd refused to join. Weaver refused and chose to fight the charges against him as being entrapment, and had a strong case. But, the government moved his trial date up, purposefully failing to notify him in a timely fashion, and he found out his hearing had been moved only after he'd had a warrant issued for him for failure to appear. Since he was being railroaded, he decided to retreat to his ranch on Ruby Ridge with his family.

The government sent US marshals to maintain covert surveillance on him. One day, Weaver, his son Sammy, and a family friend were walking on their property when the family dog hit on two agents hiding in the trees and started barking. One of the agents chose to stand up - dressed in camouflage with no insignia on his clothing, and he did not identify himself as a federal agent - and shoot the boy's dog dead right in front of him. The boy reacted normally and fired back, killing the agent. As the group retreated back towards the house, the boy was killed with a gunshot to the back.

The FBI came in as the family barricaded themselves in the house, and the government gave a chilling order that deadly force could be utilized against any person inside the perimeter regardless of whether they were a danger to anyone or not.

A couple of days into the siege, Weaver went to the barn where his son's body was lying, to mourn. As he was coming back, the FBI agents opened fire. Wounded, Weaver ran for the door. His wife, Vicky, who was holding their infant daughter in her arms, held the door for him as he dived inside. She stood in the doorway for a moment and shouted "You bastards!" at the agents in the trees. At that moment, ATF sniper Lon Horiuchi cold-bloodedly shot her in the head, killing her instantly.

Ultimately, Weaver surrendered. Ultimately, he was exonerated of the most serious charges, and the government paid him a monetary settlement.

I don't agree with Weaver's core beliefs, but having politically incorrect views does not authorize the government to railroad you to force you to do what they want, nor to murder you and your family just because.

No, you're problem is you don't understand US law, or the constitution. You don't have the authority.

you have no authority to make that determination.

ok. Just know if you take up arms against the government, you will be swiftly put down.

yes I'm familiar with the situation. I forgot the names of the criminals though. These idiots brought their deaths on themselves. They refused to submit to a legal warrant when they refused to appear in court for firearms charges. They then shot and killed a US Marshall.

This sad event should serve as a warning to the crazies who think they can "stick it to the government" with their pump action shotguns and assorted small arms.

    Pray tell how so?

Because it has been observed in localities plagued by race riots during the last years of the administration of Barack Obama. Law enforcement officers stood down while minority individuals committed destruction of private and public property, felony assault, and numerous other acts of violence.

LOL, Dems fudge the rules, when they can't just ignore the rules. Conservatives should do the same, and ram every conservative bill through Congress on simple majority votes. Even voice votes. Lets see how the Dem's like being on the receiving end.

I have. One has nothing to do with the other.

and not in others. your point is moot.
And many more arrested and convicted individuals doing the same thing. again, your point is moot.
