“She tempted me with her eyes”

    The whole idea behind the burka is to completely cover up every part of a woman's body except her eyes, so that any man happening to be in the vicinity will not fall into temptation at the very sight of her. (If she doesn't cover up every last bit of flesh and conceal all shapely curves, she's a wicked seductress, and if a man rapes her she's the primary one to blame)

    Yet it appears even that may not be enough.

    A man in Kerachi Pakistan claims he raped a burka-clad woman because “she tempted me with her eyes”.

    He asked the court for mercy.

    Two other witnesses have come forward saying that they saw the woman in question being provocative with her eyes.

    The woman has rare hazel-green colored eyes. (Maybe that's what was so provocative?)

    The judge gave the man a 4 year sentence, very lenient in a country where rape often carries a death sentence. He also has to pay her family 45000 rupees, since she was unmarried and he “deprived her of her virtue”.

    The girl's family originally wanted 100000 rupees but the defense produced several witnesses from the community who called the girl's virtue and innocence into question.

    So is that why muslim dudes want to rape white chicks so badly, the pretty eyes?

    Actually that's pretty slick, they sentence the man and offer restitution in one go. Far more progressive than I'd have thought. Pretty light sentence for rape though...

    fcol... you're comparing a culture that forces women to walk around in bodybags or they're fair game to be raped with a culture that has a tiny fringe minority of sex-criminals willing to break the law and a handful of rude cat-callers... and you're basically saying they're the same.

    Wonder what's going to happen when all these people come here.

    Already there are reports that French women in Nice are covering up. In the 1990s about 75% of them on the beaches were topless. Today that's down to less than 30%.
    The women are saying they're getting oogled by strange creepy men, or "don't feel comfortable".
