Only for newly sold handguns, while ignoring however many were owned prior to the implementation of the registry. Meaning there are countless untraceable handguns circulating the nation of Canada, easily able to fall into the hands of individuals who should not have them, who will use them in the commission of various crimes against the public. And there is not a single thing the nation of Canada can do about it.

Canada has a bunch of statist worshippers of the faith based belief that pistols are bad and a registry decreases their "harm"/ Lots of government officials continue to push discredited ideas or dishonestly mistake their real motivations

    Again with the silly comments.

You are well aware that that part of the conversation was about NY. You are also well aware that NY has extremely tough gun control laws.

Sure, I can live with that. IMHO, shooting a deer off season should be a felony. It's armed robbery from the people of the state.

Very few hunters in the U.S. hunt only for trophies. I, personally, don't know any. All the hunters I know eat or give away to people who will eat it, every bit of edible meat in the game they kill.

Which ultimately means nothing, as there is no evidence the registry on handguns has been instrumental in solving even a single firearm-related crime, nor otherwise aided law enforcement in recovering a stolen registered firearm before it could be used against a victim.

The registration of firearms is a failure, an there is no evidence to be found anywhere to actually prove otherwise.

Such was the underlying motivation that ultimately led to sound suppressors being subject to burdensome regulation by the national firearms act.

Actually, there has been a case on whether or not felons can be charged for not registering their firearms.... surprise surprise, they cannot as that is per se requiring reporting on themselves in active commission of a crime (felon in possession). The only person who can be made to register under current law is the person who is not a prohibited person.

so you want to jail for life someone who poaches a deer. Hmmm. I think you are either being contrarian or trying to stir things up. anyone who thinks poaching a deer should be a near capital offense is too dangerous to ever hold office or have any position of authority. that sort of nonsense went out of style with Henry the VIII

In texas you have to call the game warden if you want to pick up roadkill. They've got to come out, confirm the kill was a) by vehicle and b) not by you on purpose like. THEN you can take the deer, the WHOLE deer, and dispose of it as you will so long as you are not littering etc.
No picking up just the rack, if they let you take the deer you're responsible for the whole thing.

I taught in upstate NY years ago. A friend was a deputy Sheriff in that county and there was a list the Sheriff had. If the deputies found a fresh killed deer (often shot by farmers during sweet corn season, the deputy would take it to a local butcher. If the meat was still good, the Butcher would butcher the deer. The next name on the list would be called and would pay the butcher (30 bucks I think) and take the meet. stuff not claimed would go to the local shelter but the deputy said that almost never happened.

depends what they poach. a squirrel-maybe a 15 dollar fine. A Bald Eagle 5000 dollar fine
commercial poachers taking large numbers of animals-confiscate their trucks, guns, and perhaps a 20,000 fine and a ten year loss of hunting license
