Excuse me, but 'sexual abuse'? They hired prostitutes, and it's what prostitutes do? The workers didn't roam the Haiti streets snatching random women and shagging them on the bloody spot, ffs? And look at the hysteria this has caused! They've been there for 8 years, and pre-supposing they didn't return to the UK every weekend for R&R (aka 'a bit of the other' lol ), and most of them being young adults with the sexual urge hormones still rampaging, then get a prostitute?? WTF's the big deal here?

And today it's all over the front pages? I've obviously got something wrong here; I'm used to being a minority voice, but on this I'm isolated.

But last night on the BBC news, some opportunist (he sounded Australian - and he was referred to by the interviewer as 'Professor'??) who runs a similar outfit to Oxfam was badmouthing Oxfam out of sight: obviously he hopes the government grant of £squillions a year which are going to Oxfam will wind up in his 'charity's bank account'.

I just tried to find the name of the above charity but I stopped counting at 500 . . . there are a thousand of them :eyepopping: and the ones on the link below are only the biggest ones. Also I couldn't help but notice 2 of them in particular, namely The Tony Blair Faith Foundation, and The Tony Blair Governance Initiative. Good to see he's still doing his bit for . . . well, for whatever they might be! [IMG]

    Edit above post:

It was called Hear My My Cry

    http://www.wwhmc.org.uk/about-us

And there's another charity talking head from Save The Children being interviewed on Today right now, who's obviously trying to get on the government grant bandwagon as well. No surprise there I suppose. I expect they all will.

Yeah....It does all sound kinda counter intuitive in the face of it, being that tarts have been around for a wee while and some blokes do tend to go after the odd one or two every now and again, so why get all steamed about a few guys in a charity boffing a bunch of prossies out in the field...as it were?
My thoughts are that I guess they are there to be doing the work of the charity....doing good things....helping to alleviate stress, suffering and general crappiness not adding to the issue by taking their oxfam bucks flapping their wangers round and porking the populace (with their oxfam loot) given to them by people that probably....just maybe....wouldn't be over chuffed with their hard earned donated cash going to prop up the local knocking shop or some back street zoodoo abortionist! I guess a bit of self righteous hoohah is probably well in order in this case.

It'd be helpful if you can fully quote articles behind paywalls.

If this guy had been any sort of leader he'd have been aware of the situation since it happened, what 7 years ago...since when did this smeghead start getting a conscience, perhaps after his free and fair election maybe...or the theft of millions from the aid pot....nah I fail to see why we give cumballs like this oxygen.

Nearer 8 years according to Wiki, Scotty; and pardon my cynicism, but I feel a claim for government compensation coming on, courtesy of the poor bloody British taxpayers? But as to the issue itself - as I said, surely Oxfam wouldn't expect young men to go as many years in a state of celibacy when there are prostitutes around. With the frenzy of 'news' and resignations, and self-righteous outraged indignation from government talking heads, I just think it's bizarre in the extreme. In fact it's one of the most bizarre 'storm in a teacup' things I've ever heard to hype it up to this level. It's amusing though, to see the heads of other 'charities' hovering around like vultures waiting for Oxfam's demise so they can claim nearly £32m a year from HM government - I mean, that's money worth having? And that's in addition to public donations, telethons, and bequeathments. Blimey, just think about it . . . that's seriously big bucks?

The point is that the link in the OP is to an article that can't be read by everyone. If it's a free site, just link, fine. If it's a paywall site it's a courtesy to everyone else to post the whole article, because the vast majority of forum members simply can't read it. I don't think this is a controversial request.

Thank you for saving me the need to explain that.

Incidentally, now the luvvies are joining in - although that isn't surprising, seeing as they're all liberal light-weight thinkers. Do they really believe that the charity workers - those at 'the coalface'?- should remain celibate for 8 effing years, when I doubt they themselves would? This risible nonsense is taking on a life of its own!

"Actress Minnie Driver has stood down from her role as a celebrity ambassador for Oxfam."

    Getting into my pulpit now....
I think this tart just encapsulates everything which is wrong about this whole fiasco. Here we have IMHO an honourable organisation which attempts to do good around the world; they employ people to do a job of work and I'm pretty sure that in the vast majority of cases these people are doing their level best to aid, comfort and assist with the resources they have. They rely on "ambassadors" like Minnie effing Driver to help them raise awareness of the causes they support and raise the funds to go out to some pretty crappy places in order to carry out their humanitarian brief. Now granted that there has been an issue regarding the propriety of certain employees but....but does that negate the good the organisation has done? Does that negate the efforts of all the other work their employees, volunteers and stake holders have achieved? Does it mean that Oxfam have failed as charity? Minnie effing Driver has latched onto the coat tails of this organisation and been happy to take the limelight when times are good....attend the balls and dinners and high profile events and been allowed to bask in the glare of the achievements that other people have worked hard to bring about.... that other people in some of the harshest environments have caused to happen. And, as soon as the going gets a little rough, she pisses off....throws up her self righteous little manicured paws, gasps with horror and turns on them....well I hope your soul feels salved you shallow feckless tart
    What about loyalty!!!
What about standing in front of the cameras and saying, yes there has been an issue and yes we do hold poeple in this organisation up to higher standards than the rest of us and yes they failed to uphold those standards BUT....BUT we will fix the issue and we will continue to do what we do best which is work with some of the poorest people in the world and try harder to do better by them and we continue in our goal to help the suffering and the hungry and the thirsty and the ill. I will continue to support them and continue to stand proud by them....

Is that so effing difficult....is it now so hard to have the moral courage to stand up and fight!!!

Friggin tart makes we want to vomit.....rant over......normal service resumed
