Eh, zoom, any professor is a scientist as well. One thing does not contradict to another. Do not you know also that a man can held a position of Professor at the University and at the same time be a scientist at some Research Institute? The is normally the case in Germany, where a Professor at the University may have a position of a scientist at Max Plank or some other research institute?

Scientists are into sciences. A professor on philosophy is not a scientist.

 

I do not think you are right. Most of the natural sciences have an origin in philosophy.
Philosophy is a science. A science about general development of nature, society, way of thinking...

 

Someone who holds a doctorate degree in philosophy is not considered a scientist, at least not in the Western countries. I know in Russia people can have a title of “scientist in religions”, or “scientist of philosophy”, but it’s all BS. You can be a scientist in natural sciences, but not in some studies like economics or philosophy.

 

Anyway, I will never believe that st256 is a professor or a scientist. I know in Russia you can buy a degree, but that doesn’t make you a real educated professional. The effect of Russian corrupt education system can be easily observed by outsiders if one were to look at success rates of Russian launches of space vehicles. You can’t buy or fake your skills, you either have them or you don’t. Going to a doctor must be a real scary experience too.

My professor at State Univ of agriculture was a prof, nowhere near a scientist.

Some universities in Europe may have that accreditation, not all.

One fella from Moldova, who was in Milwaukee with me training at Case Corp, had a degree in Mechanical engineering, which qualified him to drive a taxicab in the city.

And yeah hospitals can be scary there....unless you are well connected, have $$$$ then you bypass and go to western Europe. London, Paris, Berlin, etc.

 

Well, what is PhD in western countries? It means Doctor of Philosophy. Already this abbreviation implies that philosophy is a science. Economics, by the way is a pure science. There is a lot of math in it (statistical analysis, differential equations). P.S. By the way, I have never heard that there is a scientist in religions in Russia although I know the education system there very well. Where did you get this info?
