"Sorry, I guess I should say that is not how it should work."

    "Like" for that.

"Well, for starters, the "products" being created are entirely different in substance. You're comparing a creative endeavor to a mechanical one."

I'm not sure that you mean that.

Firstly, the report in question is editorial content. It is opinion, but must still be based in fact (It's legitimate to dispute the facts, or the interpretation of the facts).

Secondly, there isn't any creativity involved with reading words on a screen. It's pretty mechanical. Do you really intend to justify Fake News by invoking creative license?

No I would rather you just answer what I was asking, what agenda were they supposedly pushing?

What agenda were they pushing in their national statement?

What manipulation? What did you find so offensive in their statement?

I created the thread because I thought it was creepy not because it was some indication of "fake news".

But the leftist media has spun it to mean just that (despite their own affiliates participating).

So if repetition means fake news...

If different entities following the same script means fake news...

Well then witness the masters of fake news in action...

This is not a matter of concern over bias.

This is a matter of a corporation forcing employees to trade in their public trust and decieve the viewers into believing that the people they see reading the message are representing this as their own message.

People can have all kinds of opinions. But when they deliberately try and conceal who they are while doing it, they should not be trusted.

Most people who watch Sinclair owned stations, don't even know it.

So, using local news people to peddle a canned corporate message from a corporation hides as well, is cynical and dishonest.

...Because of a scripted segment that was read verbatim by dozens of local affiliates. What do you call a scripted message designed to push a certain issue or idea? Because to me, that's an agenda.

You already had called what they did an agenda, so what issue do you have with me calling it an agenda?

I'm beginning to think that many Americans are adverse to the idea of "nuanced thought", hence the incessant badgering by Bluesguy over what particular agenda we're talking about.

    *thumbs up**

I guess that's what I'm arguing against. The way that local news works, this is the case because of the ever encroaching "parent company". Local news used to be the cutting edge in getting relevant and relatively unbiased news to the viewer. Now, due to a slump in demand for local news and media consolidation, we get a result that looks like Deadspin's video. Robotic, in-sync agenda- spewing out of anchors, that people used to trust for a personal news with personal integrity. CNN, MSNBC, Fox are JUST as bad. We have a real problem in this country, and instead of fighting it, people are joining in on a war that is being waged specifically to divide us.

The alt right has really outdone themselves. Step aside George Soros, the alt right fake news machine is cranking out scripted propaganda that shows up in 72% of American homes and a gigantic merger between Sinclair and Tribune is about to happen. Then on top of that this fake news is exactly what Trump parrots in his tweets. The deep state alt right is real folks.

    Maybe so.

I'm not sure who is driving the bus. Local, or national networks, they all seem to push an agenda.

I have a huge gripe with those who ridicule the rightist media, as if the leftist media is giving them the story straight.

To me, that is the biggest problem. Everybody knows that Fox and Breitbart cater to the right. The rightists know this. Leftists will deny, on pain of death, that most of the rest of media are biased toward the left. Their inability to see that destroys their credibility. What value should be placed on the opinion of someone who denies/can't discern the bias of their foundations.

I think you should purge yourself of your MSM-induced hate and listen to what he says.

Uniformity of message is not proof of falseness.

They were conflating "fake news" that you see on social media with "bias" in news sources.

    I'm not getting the reference.

Hopefully, it's not an endorsement of shooting up Republican (or any other) gatherings.

You are correct, I said as much.

OK, I read about the reference.

I don't think my life has been improved one bit.

    Thanks for that.

Looks like the right has learned from the left, and is attempting to exchange news with partisan opinion. That... is not good news, but I understand why they are doing it. And the markets they are manipulating... kind of brilliant. Wonder if Murdoch has anything to do with it. He and Soros seem to be playing three dimensional chess with public manipulation. Guess I'll google.

    Edit* nope, rivals.

Well, I can tell you, you certainly don't garner any syumpathy from those of us in the center left if you sit there and make those sorts of claims.

Seems the right is all about acting like this anymore.

I'm pretty sure that our friend Bluesguy knows EXACTLY what you are talking about.

He's just playing the usual right wing denial game and he's not happy that Sinclair got dramatically exposed doing this by the simple means of playing it back at them.

You think subtlely tilting the news in over 40% of americas homes among the most trusted news sources was... a dumb strategy?

    Asking for a friend.

I have to agree with your bolded statement above because while it is true that the Left Wing Media does produce a large volume of actual NEWS that cannot be compared to the ABSENCE of any factual news spewing from heavily biased RW sources like FauxNoise, BreitBart, Hate AM, etc, etc, etc.
