Why has there been a rise in mass shootings in the last 50 years or even 20 years it doesn't matter since the civil war?
Guns are paper weights without a human to manipulate them. The problem is people, not inanimate objects. Example: The anti-gun left thinks that if we shred the Constitution by banning guns, it will stop suicides, half of which use firearms. They are wrong. Those who are determined to do so will kill themselves by alternate methods. The key to saving lives is not to deprive them of their freedom, but to provide better methods of mental health care.
You have yet to show me any proof that those people who are turned away are killed. Your argument is nothing but a straw dog. There is no evidence that they are safer in the US than their home countries.
Total BS. That is like saying no cars=no car accidents. You propose an impossible scenario and try to pass it off as logic.
First, you nor I have no idea if they lived or died. Second, and most importantly, you obviously don't give flying ****wad whether they did or not, which is exactly my point. My point is proved. You can try to disprove it by showing how you do care, but you and I both know you do not. Ergo, my claim about those who claim "Life is Sacred" then are vehemently anti-immigrant are hypocrites.
......... Maybe you two guys didn't understand the OP question. But I guess reading it wouldn't matter at all to those who think you can "shoot someone without a gun" or be involved in "a car accident without a car". You guys crack me up! Is there anything you'd like to add? Please do. Make my day.
How about adding: No criminals in America = No crime in America. It's not a gun problem, it's a people problem. It would help if politicians began to recognize their function is to represent ALL the people NOT their Party agenda. The last word in the displayed image, based upon the posted words above it, would have been 'factoid'.
The subject is "Mass SHOOTINGS in America". SHOOTINGS, you know? We can discuss crime in general if you like but perhaps we should take that discussion over to the thread entitled, "What to do about CRIME in America". U-huh. It is your conviction that people 'shoot' other people with their fingers .... or have spit-balls through straws become infinitely more deadly since I was a school-boy? That has always been the problem on any subject. Yours?
Does anyone believe the 10 dead people in canada really care that they were run over by a van instead of being shot with an AR-15?
On this we agree better mental health care is needed and also doing it without stigmatizing the patient as well. That is one answer but there are more that need to be dealt with as well and gun laws are not among them.
The problem seems to be that anti-gunners want to shred the Constitution, ostensibly to make us all "safer", but only want to discuss banning/restricting guns in a very narrow context in order to prove their point. In this case, many anti-gunners bring up the AR-15 when, in fact, most "mass shootings" are with handguns. Do you want to ban handguns too?
Agreed that complex problems need complex answers. What other answers do you think are needed? Off hand, cities need to fix their gang problems. It's a combination of poverty, city budget and culture.
The solution is to identify the shooter and take him/her out. This one especially. Relative to what you had posted? Certainly!
We need to look into the impact of TV, movies and video games on our young for one. Poverty, city budget and culture are some things that help to create gangs but correcting these things will not disband the gangs, it will probably take something similar to military action to remove the gangs from power.
Yes they do want to ban handguns as well, the AR-15 is only the foot in the door because they look scary. The ultimate goal of those who want to remove the AR is the removal of all guns so that they can sit behind their locked doors and feel superior. It is not about feeling safer, it is all about superiority.
I watched the Three Stooges all while growing up and never, ever poked anyone in the eyes by forking my fingers. Culture is upbringing, not TV, movies or video games. If there's a problem, it isn't those but parents who let those be the major influence on their child's lives. Reason #9 to support abortion: some people shouldn't have kids. Disagreed. Correcting those will help the local population put more trust in the city, and the police, than in the drug lords running the streets. That cultural change will be the impetus for getting rid of gang-bangers. Going in there with a platoon of Marines shooting up the place and imposing martial law will only cause the majority of residents to distrust their own government.
