It is not some big secret that the US has considerable influence over the UN and that the UN in general (not individual members) is loath to criticize the US.

In the rare instances where the UN has criticized the US (and been correct to do so) the pathetic whine is heard around the world.

Part of the scope of the UN is to promote peace and stop nuclear war. If Nuclear superpowers were not part of the club .. that would not well serve that purpose.

 

Certainly they have influence on the UN, as do other major powers, but it does not make the UN their 'lapdog'..
