    Behind this discussion, is a really interesting question: given female emancipation, are there still biologically-rooted psychological needs, shaped by Darwinian selection, (in both male and female) that are in tension with sexual equality?

    Anyone interested in this subject ought to look at this website: http://www.takeninhand.com/ ... something is wrong with it (not a virus) but you can still read the essays.

    Side comment: I'm surprised at some of the conservative negative responses to the O.P. ... I would have thought that the OP is arguing for exactly what cultural conservatives believe.

    Funny, but most young women don't want "nice guys", they want bad boys....then wonder why the same guy treats her like crap, lies to her and cheats on her.

    Yes, I couldn't figure it out when I was in high school. The pretty girls all went for the football players... but my algebra scores were much higher than the football players' ... what was wrong with these girls?

    Just lousy young people intuition IMO. It's natural for young people to rebel against their parents which usually means they do the opposite of what their parents tell them to do.
