True, we HELPED save France during WWII, but we didn't do it alone. Since the late 1940s, NATO has taken over the task of helping defend France, but France is an important part of that as well, so we don't deserve the level of credit you seem to want us to have. America has been a part of a large organization comprised of many nations. We should feel good about our contribution, but not to the extent that we shadow the contributions of others of equal worth.
