Things are not perfect out there, but they are looking up. I have confidence that things will continue to improve for a while.

Its a good day to be an American.

It's a great time to be in that top 5%, but hey, when it is not? :D :(

The hungry and desperate will see crumbs as a banquet if that's all they have.

I'm happy those at the bottom get a little bit, but I'm angry that they aren't getting the share of their productivity that they deserve.

I'd like to point out that that HUGE (or as Trump likes to say "YUGE") increase in the top 5% happen right when congress signed NAFTA in 1993 which led to massive multi-national companies.

I would suggest that whoever suggested the rapid increase started in 1993 have their eyes checked. It began in 1980 with the election of Reagan and the widespread adoption of the 401K and the killing of over 100,000 private pension plans.CEO's Executives and Boards Of Directors took the savings from no longer funding pension plans and divvied it up amongst themselves, creating the huge and growing disparity in salary between the masters and the slaves that exist today.

Progs hate the American Worker, so they get all pissy whenever we get good news. They wanted us to buy the Obama crap about the "New Normal" that sucked for us but worked out great for Government Workers.

Worker compensation in the form of pay and benefits edged up to 2.8% to mark the biggest yearly gain since mid-2008.

In other words, workers are making out better.

What happened: Wages — some 70% of employment costs — rose a sturdy 0.5% in the second quarter, the government said Tuesday.

The big increase was in benefits: They jumped 0.9% to mark the largest advance in four years.

Employees in the private sector are finally picking up some ground against those in government, the ECI data showed.

The income increases aren't increases. Conservatives should be honest. Years and years of stifling inflation coupled with dismal wage increases - means this isn't growth. We're not even catching up.

From 1980 to 1992 there was about a 20% expansion in the top 5% cumulative growth. From 1993 to 2001 there was approximately an 80% increase in cumulative growth for the top 5%. Numbers matter, especially for an analyst and this SCREAMS of correlation of the NAFTA signing.

I'm curious to where we should be on this list? Number 1, I can surely understand that. That being said, we are well in line if not near the top of the modern world on avg household median income.

Compensation for workers improved this spring at the highest rate since the Great Recession.

Low unemployment has businesses offering better compensation packages to workers, pushing the employment cost index up to 2.8 percent over a year ago levels, according to a report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics released Tuesday. That is the best annual gain since the third quarter of 2008, which saw the index rise 2.9 percent.

It is only slight gain over the quarterly survey released in March, which indicated a 2.7 percent annual gain. The measure of private-sector wages and salaries, which excludes the costs associated with benefits, rose 2.9% year over year, exactly as it did early in the year. This indicates that wage gains are not accelerating rapidly—something that might convince the Federal Reserve to pick up the pace of interest rate hikes in an effort to keep inflation in line with its target.

Pay is up, unemployment is down, and thanks to the Republican tax cuts, everyone gets to keep more of what they work so hard for.

The Democrats tend to define success by the number of people dependent on govt.

    Good luck with that.

    Still not tired of winning!

ZERO TARIFFS, BABY: Stephen Moore, Art Laffer, and Steve Forbes on how President Trump can emulate President Reagan by offering zero tariffs to all our major trading partners – and seeing who accepts.

Trump has made that offer. Looks like Mexico of all people looks to want to restore relations in the North American continent. Canada is still sucking its thumb.

Median income today is only $584 higher than it wasin the year 2000 and those in the upper income brackets received most if not all of that $584 dollar increase,I suspect they actually got more, as rank and file incomeswere really reduced in the past 18 years.

Income is not up under Trump.
I think they were pointing out the increased cost of employer health insurance. :)

Yep, 8 years of Obama and 8 years of GWB were total waste, yet idiot liberals and idiot never-Trumpers keep swearing by them and keep quoting thousands of subservient idiot economists and swampy experts who caused the stagnation in the first place and who are now bashing Trump's policies that have finally turned the tide in favor of the middle class.

I haven't seen inflation....I got a raise.... and a bonus... and a tax cut... Sorry about your misfortune bro, see if you can get a job. It should be easy enough given full employment in Trump's America and these things (jobs) come with raises, bonuses and lower taxes.

I guess things are better in the Home Depot cashier market than they are in the software development market.
