some people are very confused. they think Stand Your Ground laws are a license to kill. no, this is not so. Stand Your Ground laws simply extend the Castle Doctrine to public places. Castle Doctrine says you have no duty to retreat if you are attacked in your car or your home or property. But that doesn't mean you have the right to use deadly force against someone who no longer poses a threat of deadly harm. if you point a gun at an attacker and they run away or surrender, you no longer have the right to use deadly force against them. if an attacker shoves you to the ground and you then point a gun at him, if the attacker backs away you cannot shoot him. You are allowed to use physical force to arrest the attacker and hold them till the police come, but not deadly force. Deadly force can ONLY used to protect your life or the life of another. Unless the attacker has a gun or a knife, if he is backing away the threat has been neutralized and you can no longer use deadly force upon them, either in your home or in public.
Then those who are confused about what the law does and does not do, and what the law does and does not mean, will ultimately learn of their errors the hard way. Such is the nature of the real world. Perhaps the public should actually familiarize themselves with the law, rather than relying on what special-interest groups say when addressing the public.
What many do not seem to understand is that laws do not exist for the purpose of protecting the people from their own stupidity.
im glad we can agree that SYG is not a license to kill at will. it simply means you have no duty to retreat. that's it. it doesn't mean you can use deadly force whenever you see fit.
I got an idea. Don't fu-k with people. Don't rob their homes. Don't try to bully them. God created all men Samuel Colt made them equal.
Being a Nazi, a Muslim, a KKK member, is hardly a reason to kill them, But yes, they are a threat to the security of the country, and should be monitored.
I will admit the Nazi, and KKK bylaws, are not as bad as Islam, however they are all, not in the best interests of America.
The American public needs to be made aware of the religion. Only then can a decision be made. and BTW, the problem is not muslims, they are a byproduct. The problem is Islam.
since you are aware of islam, if you were in charge, what course of action would u take? come on, its an anonymous forum, you can be truthful
I would present a public discussion, televised, with Islamic scholars from both sides, Discussing the religion. Just 10 years ago, we had few Islamic scholars in the west. Most of the works weren't even translated into English until the 1950's, 60's. Basically make Islam face the religion, in a situation where they have to be truthful. Islam is a political ideology more than a religion. Just about any other religion has belief's which are their own business. Islam is set up to kill people.
Being a member of a particular group does not pose a direct threat to the safety and security of anyone. Actually engaging in the use of violence against others, especially for enforcing certain beliefs, however, does present such a threat. It is words compared to actions.
Yes and no. You're position in society can influence others. ie. If you are a senator, and a member of the kkk, a lot of people will take this as a good accepted, organization.
