Just using statistics. By almost any measure - certainly that I have found - Western / Northern Europe is safer than America.

Of course there are places in Europe and in America that I wouldn't go. But the alarmist statement that "Europe is dangerous" is just not true.

Just found this graphic, which happens to come from Canada. America is ranked the same as Western / Northern Europe: take normal safety precautions, nothing more.

And in Europe you don't need to. Here are the number of homicides of Americans by country last year:
    UK - 1
    Ireland - 0
    France - 1
    Germany - 0
    Spain - 1
    Italy - 0
    Austria - 0
    Portugal - 0
    Switzerland - 0
    Belgium - 0
    Netherlands - 0
    Luxembourg - 0
    Finland - 0
    Norway - 0
    Sweden - 0
That's three (3) in Western / Northern Europe for all of last year.

It is actually extremely safe to go to Europe.

What the hell has death of Americans got to do with anything?

I've traveled the world and there are places in Europe I literally feared for my life as those areas are literally only Muslin only areas and if you are the wrong color, you get major bullied. This happened to me in 3 different Euro nations. I've never had that happen to me anywhere in the US. Not saying I feel safe here in many places, but I'm not solely targeted like in many places in Europe.

Granted, I'd still go to these cities in Europe versus many places in Mexico. Mexico is one of the largest cesspools in the world and you chances of being murdered are staggeringly hi. Granted, South Eastern Mexico is fairly stable and is a beautiful part of that country.

Spooky said she wouldn't go to Europe because she thought she had only a 35% chance of survival.

But anyway, in one of my earlier posts I showed that general homicide rates in Western and Northern Europe are only about one third or lower the rates in USA. America is at least three to five times more dangerous than Europe.

I am aware of that. This thread was about the risks in Sweden.

    America's homicide is 5.35 per 100,000
    Sweden's is 1.06 per 100,000

America is more than five times more dangerous than Sweden.

The most dangerous places in Europe are Russia, Ukraine, Lithuania and Montenegro, which all have homicide rates similar to or higher than America's. Other than that EVERY other European country has a lower homicide rate than USA. Most of them are significantly lower.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_intentional_homicide_rate

This scaremongering about Sweden is simply ridiculous.

Because crime is much lower. You people really have no idea whatsoever what life is like in Europe. You read headlines and believe that is the total reality of life in Europe. Ignorance reigns supreme for rightwing bigots.

I have traveled, by myself as a single white female, in Ireland, the UK, Switzerland, France, Spain, Portugal, Monaco, Italy, Albania, Malta, Greece, Slovenia, Croatia, the Czech Repbulic, Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Hungary, Turkey, Slovakia, and Cyprus. I was safer in all those places than in the US, where I am from and lived for many, many years. I have lived in Turkey, Germany, Austria, and Spain and spent entire summers in France (3x), Portugal, Italy, Greece (2x), the Czech Repbulic, and the UK. I have never been bothered by anyone. I have been entirely safe. Overall, Europe is much safer than the US. Crime stats support that, including Sweden.

We've been assured that "immigrants" commit less crime than the native population, so it's ok.

Wasn't 2013 the year the invasion started in earnest? I think it was.

Nah, you'd probably live through it after being gang raped and then hideously disfigured by acid thrown in your face for not wearing a burqa.

In terms of risk to you as a female, does the US have a Malmo? And would you DARE to go anywhere near Malmo?

FFS have you ever been to Malmö? I was there a few weeks ago, walking around. It was beautiful. Lovely. I'm not female but there were lots of females walking around without any issues. You would struggle to notice any difference between Malmö and an American city, other than the architecture and the fact that in Malmö there is a much higher percentage of caucasians than in many American cities.

Bangladesh's murder rate is 6.2, only slightly above the US's 5.35.

Yet a white Christian female would be many orders of magnitude safer walking through the US streets than Bangladesh streets.

So you keep saying (ad nauseam, some would say!), but how long ago was all that? If it was more than 5 years ago you might notice a few changes have taken place, especially in Sweden. On the other hand your liberal holier-than-thou self-righteousness might make you blinkered to it. There have been over 2 million newcomers into essentially 3 European countries so they must be somewhere to be seen?

Bangladesh in not part of Europe.

And I'd be interested to know if you have any actual statistics to back up your assertion.

It's not the continent that provides the danger, it's the people.

Immigrants or not, africans, hispanics, arabs/moslems and other dark skinned people are far more dangerous than whites or orientals. This is not debatable factually, whether liberals scream racism or not.

I went to Sweden about 2-2.5 years ago. I was in Gothenburg for business and then Stockholm to visit a college friend. My friend warned me that Stockholm's red light district was dangerous after dark as that's where the gangs tended be. Other than that, we went out for a drink and karaoke and we were fine.

Much like 99% of the US. You are perfectly safe walking around most places at night. Dangerous areas are isolated or easily avoided. People are overly paranoid.
