Revoking security clearances is typically reserved for those who have abused or violated the privilege.

But President Petulance's thin skin has caused him to take away John Brennan's clearance and is considering the same for former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, former FBI Director James Comey, former CIA Director Michael Hayden, former Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates, former National Security Advisor Susan Rice, former deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe, former FBI Agent Peter Strzok, former FBI lawyer Lisa Page and former Associate Deputy Attorney General Bruce Ohr.

This type of thing is designed to be red meat for the base but it is yet another example of Don's childish, petty response to criticism.

Why do they need one?

 

If I had said anything derogatory about the president while in the Air Force or when working for a aerospace company, I likely would have lost my clearance. I am surprised that some of these people held onto their clearance as long as they did. The only one who surprises me is Michael Hayden who I generally respected and liked.

A security clearance is not a right. It is either required for the job or in their case a courtesy.

Of course it isnt a right, but has for years been an ethical thing because no one person in this country has ever been able to stand above the law, the democracy as a whole. And if one did, the other side put them in check because their own side already raised hell. Just like with Nixon. The difference this time is the lack of anything on his own side...

You ever read over on Zero Hedge ? I dont understand that site. On one hand they pony up to the income problem and many other things. While at the same time hate on Dems, articles, etc. Like Brennan, and the cheesedicks on the bottom, all paid, must be. No one cant write so much country drivel that means nothing.

Ethical thing? Generally they have kept their clearance as a courtesy and because they might be consulted later. When they start bad mouthing the president, they have just removed any possible reason for them to keep their clearance.

Of course it is a courtesy, but ethical to never even consider removing it unless they did something GOD awful... Which has happened how often... Lets face it, the guy wants to silent, anyone that does not DO exactly what he wants. He did it in NEw York, NJ, and now. to business and friends alike. There are no bounds...

 

Abused and violated would include almost everyone on the list...

Let me assure you, it does not take something GOD awful to lose your security clearance. All it takes a little bit of doubt. I saw a man walked out the door stripped of his clearance less than an hour after he refused to take a routine no notice lie detector test.

The clearances held by these people are special category top secret. When you are in that area, they don't fool around.

 

Au contraire, anyone who is fired for cause from an intelligence agency, FBI, DOJ, or the militatry should automatically lose their clearance. Brenner should never have had one to begin with.

It is my understanding they still have their clearance, but they are under review except for Brennan. I am surprised they kept their clearance this long. They have no need for access to classified information and that is a requirement to hold a clearance.

As far as I know Cavuto does not have a clearance. These men still have their constitutional right to free speech. They just might not have a security clearance.
