Obviously that the statement made was wrong. Mass shootings, for example, are found to occur 9 out of every 10 days. That's redefining the term "rare"
That perhaps you are in denial in order to protect your 'toys' . Your murder rate is five times that of the UK because 70% of them involve the use of a firearm and firearms make killing far too easy as your numbers attest
For most of the 20th century our homicide rate was ten times that of the UK. Did y'all just get more violent?
Even if guns were the sole reason for 70% of our murders and we somehow eliminate every gun, we would still have more murders than you. It's not the gun, it's people concentrated into large cities.
Stabbing deaths are not rare in many parts of the UK. Reiver, did you know there have been several mass gun killings in Texas that were prevented by someone in the crowd with a gun? The mass shooting murderer was only able to get off 2 or 3 shots before being shot dead. That of course is less than some of the terrorists have been able to kill in Europe by ramming into crowds of people with a truck. I'm not saying this would work in your country (especially now after what you've done, there's no going back) but it works in Texas. I think it probably has to do with the type of people in the population. Several decades ago there used to be several parts of the US where people could leave their guns in the back of an open truck unattended. Crime rates were very low in many areas, but if one was stolen it wasn't considered the biggest deal because it was only a property crime. There wasn't so much incentive for them to be stolen when anyone could just go down to the local general outfitting store and buy one. Many times these were small towns so the local sheriffs often already had a good idea who the suspects might be.
Yeah . Other countries don't have those after all Our population density is 9 times that of the US yet our murder rate is 5 times less Go figure
Yet your government doesn't trust a single British citizen to own a handgun. If you're so peaceable, why is that?
Trust doesn't enter into it. The government is doing what we want it to do. Any government that did otherwise or suggested we copy your insane model would face instant electoral oblivion and rightly so. Sorry if its confusing
If the truth hurts then throw your toys out of the pram all you like. You can't censor others looking in and commenting on your societies wilful denial and collective irresponsibility when it comes to your firearms madness.
Like an old woman flog, always bitching and gossiping about us yanks, telling us how it should be. We do not want to emulate your crappy ways...... So just close your curtains and turn on your CCTV.
Its a pity you guys care more about being shot by CCTV than you do by guns. To the best of my knowledge a CCTV has yet conversely has never killed anyone and has greatly helped with the identification and prosecution of many criminals here
Check out the murder rate in the UK, plus also the US research into how gun ownership increases the risk of victimisation. Good luck!
Don't care about stats. Care about liberty. Don't care about little meow kitties who cede their liberty to government
Given the evidence ultimately refers to how gun ownership increases coercion, you forgot to include "don't care about logic"...
