So when is it a child and not a potential child? Anytime after the point where it's a child it's murder.
No..it is none of that....but obviously you have these fears. I k ow we are born, we live, we die...you need to believe in angels and pearly gates etc. the Greeks believed in all kinds of gods , were they wrong? People need to believe that life goes on because they can’t accept death. That’s fine if it gives you comfort.i don’t need that. Why do attribute fear to non believers?
Yes, when you kill a person, it is a crime. When you discard an acorn are you cutting down a huge oak tree?
Actually it doesn't give me comfort. Comfort would sometimes be the thought of going to sleep and not waking up like non believers believe. I don't think we get off that easy but both of us will find out someday I guess.
Ahh so a baby one day before birth is just an acorn huh. I'm sure your response will be that you never said one day before birth so I ask again when is a baby a baby and not an acorn? Day before birth? Week before birth? Month before birth? When?
When it's BORN and goes to the next stage, child. Correct, it it's born then killing it would be murder.
Before birth means when it's still inside, and attached to, the woman. (didn't know I'd have to explain "birth" ) And, a baby is never an acorn.
We aren’t talking about a baby about to be born..we are talking about when most abortions takewhen the ZEF is about 1/10th of an ounce.... It is a baby when it is born. No one has a legal abortion the day before ..the. It would be a birth. When you create a strawman argument you lose credibility. I guess you didn’t understand the acorn analogy
Exactly right. So if they have an illegal abortion the day before why not call it what it is which is murder?
You are absolutely right. It is so very hypocritical to claim they are "Pro-Life," and be so heartless and non-conscious about the living. Thank you for your post!
I would love to see a case where a woman has an abortion one day before the due date. I have heard this before from the so called "pro life" group. I mean who, goes through nine months of pregnancy and decides the day before the birth to kill the baby? Yes there have been cases of mothers abandoning new borns. Usually terrified teens but even those babies are not killed first.
A fetus becomes a baby when it is capable of living outside the womb--when it reaches viability. When that occurs, all rights transfer to the baby rather than the mother. Roe vs Wade made abortion of a fetus after viability a crime.
If you are so sure it never happens why oppose a law calling it murder if it were to happen? No answer to that is there.
Duh, because it isn't murder. It's an illegal abortion. Only "persons" can be murdered and a fetus isn't a person.. (I can keep this up as long as you can ) You want a law made for something that never happens ? Ya, Congress hasn't got enough to do...
Conservatives are always eager to inflict pain or punishment on others as if that were a remedy. Would you be equally enthusiastic to punish a woman for murder if she were already a mother of other children? Do you care how that would affect those children? Do you even give it a thought? Is justice simply inflicting punishment? Or is there something more you're missing?
And advances in medical technology is pushing that gestational age lower and lower. What happens when medicine develops an artificial womb that it can tranfer a fetus in? Will it then be a baby at 10 weeks?
Pro-choicers imagine elimination/termination as a remedy. That's like punishment for being conceived.
So would it be murder if someone prevented a fetus from being born a week past its expected delivery date so they could kill it? It would have been a "baby" but they made sure it was denied baby-status so that it wouldn't be considered "murder".
Circumstances in her life could have changed. Job loss, boyfriend dumped her, maybe house burned down and it's all too much responsibility for her to deal with right now. I heard one case where a woman wanted to get plastic surgery so she could persue a career in the porn industry. The doctor told her they couldn't do the surgery while she was pregnant... so she aborted. In another case a woman suddenly became hard-pressed for cash and went back to being a stripper. Only problem was she was pregnant at the time. A lot of very obese women who may not realize they've fallen pregnant until well until the pregnancy is already well underway. Some women have even given birth without having ever realized they had been pregnant.
Good questions. I agree technology is altering the interpretation of the law. Perhaps if it develops to the point where a newly fertilized egg can be transferred to a development cell or incubator for the entire gestation period. When that happens, perhaps we can eliminate abortion altogether. But till then. . .keep Roe vs Wade.
