Large boom and bust cycles are created by government intervention, via fiat and central banking, that slowly consolidates wealth into the hands of the finance sector.

 

That is a large part if the criticism of socialism. Don’t pretend that it’s government that is the problem when the economic system is bigger than government ever could be.

I notice, though, that you didn't answer my question about the conundrum you could have been in about your brother's health care bills. What would you have done if the government hadn't paid for it? Let him die? Or would you have paid for it out of your own pocket?

You don't "own" it. You don't own anything under socialism. If someone needs a heart transplant, and there is no money to pay for it, they take your home to pay for it.

 

No guns in private hands do not make you safer, just like a declawed cat is not safer. Everyone who is human is unstable sometime in their lives. But having no guns brings governments that have no morals or compassion. China they took the guns away, and 40 million Chinese died. In Russia, they took the guns away and 20 million people died. I can go on and on with governments that kill their own people. That is exactly why the second amendment was written, because these smart men knew what oppression was. Why do you think black slaves were not allowed to have guns in 2/3 of the 19th century? Because slaves with guns can revolt, and become citizens. You fail to look at cause and effect, and never say "it cannot happen here"., because it WILL happen here.

Still, in a world where everyone can have everything they need at the push of a button, what would that world look like? I think some would be content, but others would want more. They'd be the same type to colonize Mars or an asteroid belt space station.

 

First, that's the reason for a Constitution, to protect the rights of sheep and wolves alike.

Second, it's also the reason why we are a Republic, not a pure democracy.

 

Perhaps you should respond to the point made - the fact that the Right will go to the mat to defend an unborn fetus' right to life, but once that child has been born, they don't support programs that help the mother and her child survive.

 

A capitalist country can (and does) adopt some social programs and not be a socialist country. This 'all or nothing' game is a strawman...

You need to spend some time learning about socialism and communism. WikiPedia lays it out very well. What you describe is socialism taken to extreme that results in communism. The likelihood of the United States descending into a system of communal property and confiscation is nil. Legally, socially, and Constitutionally the stars are all against it. More importantly, Americans wouldn't like it.

 

Socialism is the means to Communism. Communism is not an economic system, it is the result of an economic system - Socialism.

The Nordic nations are heavily redistributive, this retains private ownership of the means of production, but takes some large percentage of the fruits of that production for central planning. If that percentage is 100% then you have private management but public profit. Genuine socialists are rather picky about workers' management. Most view democratic socialism as a means to divert the public from rebelling and taking what's theirs. An effort by the bourgeosis to placate the oppressed masses.

 

What’s interesting here is your home is never yours, regardless of you pay it off, it will always be the governments property. I use this example because private ownership is already gone just by real estate alone.

Canada and Sweden are capitalist countries but have socialist systems embedded like single payer. No one is calling to become a full blown socialist country, even Bernie isn’t, but become more like the two countries I mentioned.

You can go on all you want about Russia/China/or any other gov't. The USA had bombs, Ships with big guns, Tanks, Airplanes and nuclear weapons. You 30 round clip semi auto rifle means squat. Even if you hav e the people in the state of CA backing with you.

In another thread about immigrants, 2 of the very 1st posters were christians saying how immigrants should be just sent out without care, or dropped from an airplane. As long as they are out of country, they don't care.
