Extremism in America

Incorrect again, but I can see you are irritated by my posts.

Disagreed also about being right or wrong; truth should always prevails. Sure,liars, schemers and the politically extreme often try to obscure the truth, but most people can see truth even if they don't scream it back at the extremists.

Agreed again. Also again a person who doesn't want to learn won't. Many political extremists have a narrow view of the world and usually only see it in terms of "Us and Them". The best voice moderates can use is their vote. They can send a message all the way to Washington DC this November regardless if they are banned from a particular political forum or not.

You are correct, I didn't define it well in the OP, but did so in later posts.

In short, a political extremist believes their side is 100% correct, that the opposition is 100% wrong and, therefore, is an enemy who must be destroyed one way or another. There is no compromise with a political extremist. You are either with them or against them.

I think he was addressing the part in which you stated that it sounded like he is blaming others for his own behavior. That is not a factual statement, that's an opinion. He doesn't have to believe that. I don't think Max is trying to imply you are a liar either.

Max, your own logic is lacking here in defining "extremism." The media plays a big part in how events are interpreted. Here's some better logic to help sort this out for you.

Corrupt bureaucrats (FBI) CANNOT let one political candidate off the hook for her CRIMES, and then turnaround and try to remove the OPPOSING CANDIDATE from office without evidence.

That scares the CRAP out of EVERYONE with just steps away from being FASCISM!

The "deep state" or corrupt bureaucrats, whatever, have been using the media from the beginning to install their candidate, and now they've figured out the PEOPLE ARE NOT BUYING IT.

This is third world CRAP they (bureaucrats) have pulled in central America for decades.

Walking away is a nice luxury and high minded too. Rising above the fray and all to leave the rest on a sometimes nasty battlefield is nice, safe. I don't think this forum is an unimportant little hobby. I think it's dead serious with many followers that never post. I think of them often. Perhaps they are persuadable.

The extreme right outnumbers the extreme left for now, but it wasn't always that way. The far left is quite capable of noxious views and the right says some breathtakingly stupid stuff. That's okay (I guess) but when either side feels like their view isn't coming across, the screaming starts. Even here the SCREAMING can get pretty intense. To me, it sounds like frustration with an inability to get one's point across.

There are a lot of ways to kick *ss around here and in public that don't involve screaming or dropping out, both of which are equally ineffective. Again and again I've seen moderate posters take the hide off screamers and ideologues. That's worth hanging around for.

Sorry. I'm not seeing it. You're right if you're claiming that extremists are the driving force on the left, but right-wing extremists have no influence, and are barely even heard, except when it suits the media agenda to publicize them.

I feel the same. I read this forum for entertainment. While I do inject opinions from time to time, I don't expect to change any minds. Injecting my opinion is cathartic and entertaining for me. I read a lot of hatred on the forum. There is no hatred in me. Just opinions.

No it doesn't help. I think examples would be better. I'm reading these posts but it's hard to glean what warrants the "extreme" label.

 

But that has been the leftist mindset since Marx.

 

I've yet to meet a single political extremist who claims to being a political extremist.
