    Actually their EEG is virtually the same as a brain dead patient until week 24 to 27. There have been rare cases of the EEG being active a little prior to that but never before week 20. Note the EEG of a brain dead patient is not flat.

    A sizable contingent would assert that life begins at 25 weeks. The rationale for this starting point is based on our definition of death. The definition of death is not disputed, and is considered the time when electroencephalography (EEG) activity ceases. EEG measures brain activity and must demonstrate regular wave patterns to be considered valid. Therefore, by this rule the onset of life would be the time when fetal brain activity begins to exhibit regular wave patterns, which occurs fairly consistently around week 25. Previous to that time, the EEG only shows small bursts of activity without sustained firing of neurons.

    The respect for human life begins with the US Constitution. The right to take human life is written into the Constitution.

    The respect for human life has nothing to do with the ability to take that life.

    Frankly, I am disgusted in this civil society we are having this conversation.

    The minority right needs to shut the **** up about it. Their rights aren't being infringed, and I am tired of slaying would be heroes in debates when it comes to this issue.

    I can certainly name extremists in the pro life group that would not allow abortion even for rape or incest like Rick Santorum.
